From what I've seen people say, "Apply force and pray." is the general census to getting that IT ab crunch unlocked. I won't be Transforming mine, so good luck.

Need some advice guys, I've been a bit outside the loop these past few weeks.

I'm going to buy one of these KOs. Watched the Toy Dojo video comparison, and it seemed to me that the THF version was the one to buy since it had the silver paint and G1 toy add ons. But most of the people here seem to prefer the IT version, and I'm very curious why.

mMmmm i think its cuz people are getting their IT's in now whereas THF variants were released much earlier. Several pages ago, there was mostly THF praise. I picked the IT before the announced the redid paintjob - i mostly decided because at the time i i wanted the english rifle and backplate; had no need for g1 chest and face. Later on, the scratch resistant paintjob sold me cuz i already have a TT megs, i just want a durable toy to play with. That said, the THF is also an amazing buy, and if i could, i would pick one up too lololol. You cant go wrong with either - preference at that point.

Yup, just a certain amount of pressure and it comes loose.

My THF MP36 arrived from TF direct yesterday and I love it. I have however had two qc issues.
He is misssing the index finger off his left hand.
He came with 2 battle damaged faces and not an angry face :/. Apart from that, 70 quid well spent :) . Just need to pick up some batteries for his cannon.

Well I can give you my reasons:

    1) The paint is more durable. My official MP-36 suffered much paint wear from just one transformation. None of my other MP figures have had this happen in all my years of owning them (2007-Current), but there is one exception and that is Ratchet which is known to have some white paint flaking.

    2) Everything has shown that the gun mode fits together better (except one ham fisted review). I even made a post in the official MP-36 thead about my issue and fixing of my official MP-36. Masterpiece Megatron V2.0 has arrived... and he is GLORIOUS

    Here are other people's reasons:

    1) The extra accessories: Back cover, 3 Kremzeeks, 2 Cannons. Also some want the G1 cartoon english voice. The THF has a Transformers Devastation english voice, and the voice is Frank Welker, but slightly different.

    2) Diecast in the thighs.

You can try sending an email to Emily about your problems and the pics along with it (make sure that you have a copy of the payment method used upon purchasing the THF as well just in case for verification purposes), they will send you the corrected parts (no charge I believe). You might have to wait till after CNY for the replacement parts to arrive as packages are starting build up now and after CNY, the postal system will be swamped with many orders after the celebration is over (close to three weeks I believe where the workers go back to see the families and spend time with them while the factories are getting ready for the next project after the workers are back).

I never would have bought this figure but received the IT version as a gift. IT blew me away in quality ala Wei Jiang. I handled the TT version and this IT version is far better in quality. I have thoroughly enjoyed the IT version and although I am not transforming it again in the near future I never had the fear something was going to break like the TT version that felt like a joke.

Here is my assessment after handling all the versions:-

IT - the heft and the solid build wins me over. He is as sturdy as fuck and hold poses well (the added die cast on the thighs helped alot). Handling him gave me the high end chogokin vibe. The toon accurate colors really pops and he looks much better than the original MP36. AND - no paint chip after transformation. Loving him to bits.

Magten - Excellent toy colors and the delicious silver paint on the figure. However, he lose out in terms of quality. There are already a few paint scuffs after one transformation and he feels the lightest among all the versions, including the original. While I am impressed with the paint, the built is poorer compared to IT version. But as a display, he is tops.

THF - Mine had some problems standing up straight, but the gleaming shining finish makes him look premium. But not as premium feeling as compared to the IT version. He is solid but not as hefty as IT. Some very minor paint chips after transformation, but I was being ham fisted. So , if you are careful, you could avoid it all together.

So, in order of preference, mine is - IT, THF and Magten.

As for the original MP-36, I will still keep him. I like having at least one original copy in my collection.

Do you suppose they would also send me a replacement gun for the one that arrived cracked?

It may be a silly question given they are knocks offs of the MP, but do the MOdel heads fit on the IT. I could not find anywhere that mentioned them specifically fitting IT-01. I am assuming they do, but before laying down the cash, just want to be certain.

One of the purposes of this thread is to spread the joy, so if you feel like it why not?

If its a TF direct buy chances are that yes. A friend of mine ordered a OS Ironhide and was missing his guns out of the box. The sent him new ones.

Appolyon isn't so bad... at least not from the waist up. His hips are way too wide, and his lower legs are way too messy, with skinny ankles. But the silver paint looks good, and both his gun mode and his robot mode are much cleaner. I like the traditional gun details on his shoulders and his back. The MP36 design is full of gaps and panel clutter... his back, under his arms, on his arms, etc...

But yeah, MP36 is still definitely the better toy.

Speaking as someone who got the THF, and who loves the THF... I'm still thinking maybe I should have gone for IT.

    THF
-darker, more metallic paint (no chips for me, but some paint rubbing on the backs of his hands)
    -generally stronger joints and construction
-awesome G1-toy option face / chest (big selling point for me)
    -cannon with Welker voice clips
-good overall quality of parts and tolerances

    IT
-almost the same deco as MP36 (paler flatter grey)
-stronger joints and added diecast in places, just a tiny bit taller
-a SECOND cannon that has Welker clips
-NO G1 toy upgrade parts :(
    -3 kremzeeks
-excellent overall quality of parts and tolerances

    MagTen

-shiny silver deco, with red on the inside thighs
-G1-toy face / chest (but faces are painted very white)
-maybe slightly lesser quality parts and tolerances?

This is the rundown that I assembled from what people are saying. I'll gladly amend any details that someone supplies me with. Unless you MUST have a shiny silver deco, Magten seems like the loser in this trio. And unless you're a fiend for the G1 toy-style face/chest, the IT seems like the winner.

I'm in no way dissatisfied with my THF... I'm just lured by the siren song of IT's added diecast and added fusion cannon (though not all retailers sell it with the extra cannon, so double check!)
