I don't know if they're your cup of tea but the Acid Rain line from B25 has a level of Diaclone-esque modularity and is a more accessible price
Acid Rain even has their own clear solid scan-esque powered suit type of thing. Its kind of like a stylized, bigger scale Diaclone. Kind of.
Sadly the clear one is under the more expensive Oritoy line of Acid rain figures, a B2Five version would be awesome though
Ahhh ok, gotcha. I didn't realize there were multiple scales/producers for the acid rain stuff. Thanks!
I was fiddling with my Dia-Battles V2 (or V3, whatever the new version with the chrome paint and upgraded joints is called) and I noticed that in robot mode, the waist doesn't actually lock into place. Unless i position the two hip guns behind the figure's back over its bum, the torso will flop back. Is this normal, or have I gotten a defective Dia-battles? If the latter, i've had it since release so it's long since past the time I could have gotten one to exchange with. Sigh.
My DA-01Ex has the same problem, but neither of my DA-06s have that issue. Freaked me out at first, but it hasn't really been an issue (except when posing) since I usually keep the belt/hip guns folded back on that figure anyways.
Yeah ok, I noticed my DA-06 was fine and I can't remember if the original release DA-01 v2 has that problem or not. How weird, I assumed that DA-06 and DA-01Ex were the exact same mold (apart from the obvious differences).
It might be that the main difference is the force applied by the machines that control the density/compression of the ABS in the molds. Typically companies use different machines for large production runs than they do for smaller production runs. Since the DA-01Ex is a limited production, there would be a tendency for the plastic to vary from standard releases. It would make sense that DA-01's reissue might have been produced on a smaller, older casting machine (perhaps even the same one used for Ex) that has wider tolerance ranges than the bigger newer machines that main line Diabattles are produced on. I suppose that might explain the variation, since DA-01Ex feels lighter (less dense*) than either of my DA-06s. *not necessarily a bad thing: lowered density in many plastics can mean higher flexibility and less liklihood of fracture
Mine click and stays in place. I have one DA-01 with a tight waist, and another that is loose. Just comes down to dimensional variations when the parts were molded (cycle time to cool before the pieces are ejected from the mold is a likely culprit).
This makes total sense. Especially since the clearance on that part varies quite a bit during heating and cooling, something I discovered when dying Cosmo Maneuver green. After some dying cycles it was looser when cooled and after others its seemed to have puffed and was much harder to 'click' into place.
That looks great! On a different note. I fucking hate porch pirates!!! I ordered some dianuats from Mandarake. I check tracking and see that it’s been delivered. I get home and nothing.
I don't suppose anyone in the UK wants to take the upcoming DA-19 Big Powered GV Land Battle Cruiser & DA-20 Powered System Type E Armour off my hands? I pre-ordered but having cold feet, looking for £90 posted. Other option is I cancel the pre-order.
FYI that space pod has had a recent production run but HLJ has a separate listing for it: Space Pod Crab 03 (Limited Reproduction Ver.) Apparently the "limited reproduction" kit doesn't include the "clear orange" version but it does include one in teal blue. I have also just ordered one, thanks for that link @Everything Man !
