The mature stuff was the alcohol use and the death of major characters. That stuff was censored from the US release, but the other adult themes were still surprising for a cartoon back in that era. It had a serial story instead of being able to watch the episodes 'in any order'. The tv show Cybertron censored (removed from US release) the nightmare that Kicker had, and the scene in the opening credits where it shows him dancing with the girl character, so they couldnt even show that non-threatening stuff. Id say Robotech is more mature than Prime, but it was definitely unique on tv in the 80s.

I love those songs, but let's face it, they're not only the cheeseball-est rock ballads ever, they also feature guitar solos which I'm sure half of the lovely Ms. Steinfeld's generation wouldn't recognize if a stratocaster ran up and bit 'em on the butt.

In a somewhat related note: who the heck told her those purple lame' boots were a good idea? It's like someone went back to 1990 and fished them out the back of Julia Robert's closet.

 

Meh. It's not like I watch these movies for the shitty soundtrack anyway, if she sucks I'll just mute it. 80s songs are fine, but remade 80s songs are prone to sucking.
