    So what?

Agreed. He probably should have had his big redemption in Transformers 6.

I don't know. If it's already been established you shouldn't need to repeat yourself.

You really call that a fight scene?

So give it a proper treatment in which I can enjoy.

There's no context. Optimus is absent for a quite a long time.

Also you say you don't know... So yes, you should know that the best sequels are self-contained. They don't ask you to go searching for the big things elsewhere and let you figure out through the movie's context alone.

And I call that a fight scene because the entire movie was built from the backstory of Bruce Wayne all the way to actually confronting the Joker in a battle of dialogue and hanging onto a gargoyle.

    Are they though?

Ah, so when you say fight scene you mean a talking scene.

Hardly. If Paramount is truly in dire straights, all that they gotta do is do another theatrical release of Titanic - they have teh distribution rights for North America - and it would net a tidy profit. It is the second highest grossing all time movie after all.

On what timeline of production, exactly? If they don't even have a script for TF6 by now they are in serious trouble, because forget not having a director, you don't have anything to start filming if you don't have a script (which needs to be approved through miles and miles of red tape or something, it's not like a school report being graded). TF6, if it's anything in the same scope as the production value of TF5, it needs at least several months of filming, then more months of editing and post production. Meaning it has to be shot this summer or else they're going to be cutting it insanely close to meet that deadline next year. Bumblebee, being a smaller budget production, wasn't under as tight constraints but it is kind of telling that the "blockbuster hit" franchise Transformers had to be moved from its upcoming summer release to a holiday one because Disney put Incredibles 2 around the same time.

By barely breaking a billion dollars and making less than DOTM.

Funny how it's sequel failed to make as much money, despite having been a major franchise for a solid decade, when compared to the first film which was a truly risky proposal as nobody knew if Transformers was going to work in a much more gritty, realistic setting.

Kinda missing some major points though:

    - First Class was good...because it wasn't anything like the X-men films previously. So good, that it's what forced a series reboot in the form of Days of Future Past, which the entire gimmick of was preventing X-Men III: The Last Stand from ever happening in-uninverse. Paramount and Hasbro are too stupid to try something like that, they're too proud of the bullshit continuity AoE set up.

    - Deadpool is kind of still up in the air considering Disney pretty much bought back the rights and Deadpool is absolutely not somebody Disney wants associated with content tied to things kids might see.

    - Logan was the end of Wolverine, not a spin off, and the last time Jackman was Logan as well as Stewart being Xavier.

And the fifth one was so bad and rife with controversy (did they really need to hang Nazi banners on Winston Churchill's home considering the end product barely even featured Nazis for the sake of just having Nazis for no reason?) that it failed to make even the same amount of money as a film ten years its senior and significantly less public exposure.

OK, I will say it's the general norm. They may have pre-existing knowledge in them but they don't let this override on what's new with the movie.

Like what we're doing right now. OK, we should stop.

What does that have to do with them not being able to "right the Transformers ship"?

Ok, so it didn't make as much as DoTM, but breaking a billion is hardly considered a financial failure.

Aliens, Ripley awakes after all the things that happened in Alien. The Weyland-Yutani then recruit her to do a mission for them based on her knowledge about the Xenomorph. The whole point of the movie is soon about a group of Marines hunting a dangerous alien species.

The Dark Knight, Batman is established to be a long time watchful protector of Gotham and the Joker steps in to disrupt all of this.

The Winter Soldier, Steve Rogers is attempting to adjust to normal life after missing out his time. Everything ranging from his WWII experience to Peggy Carter has changed and he has to come to terms also with his occupation of working with S.H.E.I.L.D.

How about you figure out why these movies were so well liked instead of coming up to me and saying you have no clue. But then I don't think you know anyway judging by the way you answer. So eh....

What's your point? That there are movies that people like more than The Last Knight?

Paramount is hemorrhaging money. Why else do you think they severely cut the budget, relied on state film production grants, and then had to move the release date of Bumblebee? Isn't the franchise supposed to be doing "strong" right now? Why would such a "strong" franchise have to move from its traditional summer release timeline to a holiday release when one of its chief competing films is an animated sequel to a 14 year old film?

Things are not looking good for Paramount because all their major movies are just falling flat at the box office and nothing is returning big numbers (which is especially embarrassing when Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is a sequel nobody wanted to a forgettable film from the 90s, yet it's already made more money than The Last Failure despite having half as much budget). And if Paramount goes down, then the current Transformers film franchise goes down with it.

Which makes The Last Failure being the lowest grossing live action TF film all the more humiliating because it couldn't even do that.

What's your point? You know what other movie Paramount severely cut the budget on? Star Trek II. How did that turn out? So I ask you again, what does that have to do with them not being able to "right the ship"?

Well, Paramount disagrees with you since there are two more movies being made.

Well, 1.1 billion dollars in box office is nothing to scoff at, regardless of whether it made less than DotM or not. That doesn't even count home media sales.

Sure, The Last Knight had a huge drop off in revenue, but in some ways it's a very different movie. If anything the finished fifth film was trying to distance itself from the fourth film in some ways, which may be why many overseas markets that supported the previous films did not support The Last Knight as much.

Also, while I think bringing Transformers to live action was risky, and the Movie designs were undoubtedly risky, as that type of design had never been done before in the brand, from a story and character perspective the 2007 film is the least risky of the films by a long shot. The Autobots coming to Earth and befriending a human teenager who gets dragged into conflict with the Decepticons is the most overdone story in the entire brand and much more overused than the stories in any of the sequels. Granted, some of the times first films in potential series need to keep things safe comparatively speaking, so this isn't so much a criticism as an observation.

Anyway, I'm not sure that a lot of this conversation really has to do with a sixth "mainline" movie coming in 2019. However, I would suggest that Transformers 6 should back away from planetary-in-scope CGI and make the finale to the current movies a bit more intimate and personal than The Last Knight. That should lessen the budget a bit. We know Earth isn't going to transform and destroy us all, so just show how Unicron represents chaos as opposed to total destruction, and show the struggle between order and chaos through a core group of characters, both robot and human. One last Megatron/Galvatron vs. Optimus fight. One last charge featuring the Dinobots and core Autobots...Bee, Hound, Drift, Crosshairs, and Hot Rod. Maybe have a human that represents every live action film rather than introducing a bunch of new ones. And given that Unicron is Earth, I would love it if the scenery and much of the setting in the finale was more geological instead of simply urban, rural, or Cybertronian. Then at the end we can have the Movieverse equivalent of "Till all are one."

That's just what I would do. Maybe other fans want something different still. I just hope that whatever the finale to the Bayverse is will be an enjoyable sendoff.

Well, if they are still keeping that date than we should start hearing significant info(mainly who's directing) by next month.

Things were just so quiet regarding TF6 that I figured they were pushing the film back to 2020. I still think they should push it back since it's current release date leaves little room for the film to do well financially.

It possible that they've had a script since the writers room. We do have proof that the had a concept of where they want this story to go through the concept boards seen in the Last Knight bonus features (Something evolving Alpha Trion, Onyx Prime, and prison ship, etc). Its possible they also even have a director and just xhoose to withhold the information for whatever reason.

What I'm trying to say is it's possible to see a Transformers 6 next year.

    Unlikely, but possible.

Not well considering how Star Trek: Beyond, the sequel to Star Trek: Into Darkness did. And Beyond was in fact a good film.

Don't count your eggs before they hatch.

Honesty, the smart decision is that they should push it back to give themselves breathing room. The problem there is that it means no TF film for 2019 and with the MCU just crushing everything and a declining domestic box office twice in a row (China fucking saved AoE and everybody knows it), the hope is that oversaturation will revive the TF films. But I just don't think it's going to happen.

Unlikely, given TFW is in on investor calls and if there's anybody companies don't want to hide good information from, it's the investors. We would know if there was a director in secret.

Additionally, the writers room isn't worth squat since the first product that shitshow produced? The Last Failure, where Prime being evil is the big plot twist...for all of what? Five, ten minutes before Bumblebee coughing up some words is strong enough to undo Prime's brainwashing? Granted, we can thank that fucker Lorenzo for messing with the script (he even admitted as such in an interview I regretfully don't have access to).

No, I'm talking about the real Star Trek II. As in Wrath of Khan.

I am confused by your rebuttal on my x men comparison.

Firstly having a new director can absolutely make the sequel to TLK an entirely different product. I get what you’re saying about it coming from the same writer’s room, but do we really truly know who as at fault for TLK’s failure to succeed, even among this fandom? It could’ve been shit from the start, but maybe bay was the guilty party? Maybe the editing team? It’s debatable but I strongly do feel that a new director is going to change the feel of this franchise. I think Paramount isn’t too proud with this one, I think they have to realize a shakeup is needed.

Also on Deadpool? I don’t see what Disney has to do with my argument, the film was already made, I am saying that is the success, the film was unique, a spinoff, was received prettt decent, and made a shit load of money even before factoring in the R rating. Disney already said they are fine with it being an R. Jessica jones, the punisher, daredevi... those all came out under Disney and they are pretty non-Disney and R rated, if a rating was to be given.

And Logan being an ending, irrelevant to my point. It’s a spin-off, no matter when it takes place it is a spinoff. Maybe Paramount makes a “death of prime movie” and sets it in the future, still success in creating an artistic and different product.

For me x men Apocalypse was a step back, but first class and days of future past are my favorites of the franchise, and they came after, what was it 4 movies I think?

All of the films they currently developing are films pitched during the writers room, they've said they have pitched up to 10 years of films, now whatever or not they will use the script/treatment they made back in 2015 is unknown, but the general idea for TF6 is most likely the same.
