I'll start with making this statement, relative scale IS important to me and to what I want for my collection.

With that said I am trying to settle on what scale to go with for my Combiners.

I am a CHUG scale collector, I've got MP-10 and Despotron but past that I don't plan on buying many other MP scale figures.

I currently own the Oversized JinBao Warbotron Bruticus set. I'm pretty happy with that set in combined mode, it's huge and imposing in my CHUG collection and I feel like it fits the mass shifting aesthetic style that combiners are portrayed with in the comics and cartoons. But the problem I'm having is that when not combined the individual Combaticons are way too big to fit with the rest of my collection.

So I've been trying to figure out what combiners fit into which scale and I'm having a tough time getting everything straight.

So far I've got the following list starting from largest scale going to smallest:

    MP Scale:
    -Toyworld Devastator
    -Zeta Bruticus
    -Zeta Superion
    -Fanstoys Superion?

    Oversized Scale:
    -JinBao Predaking
    -JinBao Bruticus
    -JinBao Devastator(coming soon?)
    -Jui Jiang Superion
    -Has/Tak CW Devastator
    -Wei Jiang Throttlebots

    Voyager? Scale:
    -Warbotron Bruticus
    -Warbotron Computron
    -Generation Toy Devastator
    -TFC Superion
    -TFC Piranacon
    -TFC Superion
    -TFC Defensor
    -TFC Lio Kaiser
    -Unique Toys Abominus
    -MMC Predaking
    -Toyworld Throttlebots
-Wei Jiang Oversized Combiner Wars figures

I don't know exactly what category to put the next ones in, and I'm not really concerned with anything smaller than the Voyager-ish sized figures. I've always really liked the Fansproject Menasor but the individual bots are way too small for my personal tastes.

    -Transformission Menasor
    -Fans Project Dinoking
    -Unique Toys Bruticus
    -Yes Model Defensor

Have I missed anything or miscategorized anything?

Is the CHUG Voyager sized combiner scale dead or will more be coming out in the future?

I have three types. I don’t collect KO’s or oversized stuff also.

    My scales/sizes are:

Voyager figures = sum of all parts (voyager combiner like GT Menasor, UT Abom, MMC Feral Rex, Warbotron Bruticus etc, TFC stuff etc)*

“MP size”/MP scale figures = sum of all parts (MP sizes combiner a la Constructor)

And the last would be legends scale stuff (Iron Factory Bruticus)

*note that I don’t collect deluxe sized figures. But the likes that would scale to them in my opinion would be things like official Devy, CW combiners etc.

The individual Constructicons from Maketoys Giant are voyager size and fit well with the official CHUG aesthetic. Combined mode probably doesn't fit your scale requirements though.

No they most certainly are not. They're small deluxes at best. Generation Toy's Gravity Builder is maybe what you meant? Those are voyager constructicons and the combiner is, in my opinion, nearly the perfect scale for CHUG.

Personally, I'm in on the non OS Warbotron scale. Plus or minus about an inch, here's what works in that range:

    Warbotron Bruticus
    Warbotron Computron
    Generation Toy Gravity Builder
    Generation Toy Defensor
    Transform Mission Menasor
    Unique Toys Ordin
    TFC Piranacon

We have no Superion that works in that scale at all. So I'm desperately waiting on Generation Toy or Transform Mission to announce one. There is another option for Defensor, which is what I"m going with and that's the YES Model OSKO Guardia. It's a a near perfect replica of Maketoys Guardia, but scaled up to the Warbotron scale. I have the Streetwise and Groove and they're fantastic. Honorable mentions are the Toyworld Throttlebots combiner, who is a wholly new creation, but I think fits in pretty well and then I have the C+ Customs upgrade set for Victorion. She's still a little short, but she's a female combiner and I'm ok with that to have her even in the same league with the other big boys. Predaking is probably the toughest one. MMC's Feral Rex is the best Predaking available, but even at full extension, he's a tad short and that feels wrong for Predaking, to me at least. I went with the OSKO Jinbao Feral Rex... who is HUGE. He's probably 17" of pure bulk instead of the 15" for the Warbotron scale. I'm ok with that, since Predaking was always larger than the other combiners.

That's where we sit, in my opinion.

Three of the combiners you had questions about have Voyager limbs, so I would say yes more are coming.
GT Defensor looks to be the same.

Transformission is MP scale in that the cars are MP carbot sized in alt and bot and Motormaster is MP Optimus size in alt and bot mode.
So it's Voyager limb bots, Leader torso. The combiner is the sum of it's parts.

Unique Toys Bruticus has Ultra/tall Voyager limbs and Onslaught is bigger than MP Optimus.
This is also MP scale if you consider the combiner as the sum of it's parts.

Yes Model Defensor has voyager limbs, leader torso. This would go in your Voyager scale.

Fansproject Dinoking goes with the other FP combiners. All members are Deluxe, and the combiner sizes well with standard Combiner Wars gestalts.
FP Menasor, FP Dinoking, MT Computron, MT Devastator, and MT Defensor all go here. Dev and Dino having all deluxe members. The others have Voyager torsos.

Those are deluxe sized limbs. The next size up is TFC Hercules (small voyager).

Thank you guys so much! You pretty much answered my questions and gave me confirmation where I needed it.

How do you feel the individual bots of the JinBao Predaking fit in with your CHUG bots, or do you just leave it combined always?

That picture pretty heavily skews his height and to be fair, he is my current Superion, but he's a solid head shorter than Warbotron. Here's a shot of my collection:

Based on the feet I'm guessing that's the Oversized Feral Rex?

It is indeed, the official one was just too small for me tastes.

Nope, not even close to deluxe. MT Constructicons definitely fit the voyager scale, being practically the same height as TFC's offering and taller than ROTF Voyager Mixmaster:

So I posted this thread while at work and dwelling on the topic yesterday, when I came home last night I decided to really line everyone up and see how off my Combaticons were. After doing this I ended up feeling a lot better about them individually. Yeah they're definitely too big, but it's not hateful, and in the end I don't think it's worth abandoning them and downscaling to the Voyager scaled combiners.

    IMG_20180113_194054.jpg
Swindle ends up half a head taller than CD Megatron, Brawl ends up a full head taller and Onslaught is huge.

Would you guys be ok with this scaling in your collection or would you ditch that set of Combaticons and start hunting down the smaller combiners?

    Yes, very close to Deluxe.

You picked the tallest Maketoys figure, of course.
    8942159_orig.jpg

    The rest are shorter.

    xnF6e.jpg

Like I said though, TFC's I consider to be a small Voyager. Anything below that I would consider to be a large Deluxe. They are smaller.

Just look at TFC bots compared to other Voyagers.

As for the Official figure, HasTak uses Legends/Deluxe/Voyager/Leader as a price point.
Not like we use them as a size class.

Notice how much shorter TLK Megatron (Leader) is compared to Motormaster (Leader).
I would say Megatron is Ultra class.
    IMG_20171020_013636.jpg

It's up to you what you want to call them though. It's your collection.

I think that setup looks fine.

Could you post a picture that switches out KO Predaking for MMC's Predaking? I don't mind slight height differences in my combiners, but I prefer that they are all close to the same height. Thankfully, though the shortest, TFC's Piranacon fits the WB/GT/TFM scale good enough and he's an amazing combiner! I'm debating getting MMC's Feral Rex. Partly because I don't know how he will scale with the rest and partly because I'm saving up for GT's Defensor (and any other GT/TFM combiner to come). IMG_2626 (2).jpg

    Thanks!

I don't own MMC's, I've just been going by pics online, but here's a good one. I'm pretty sure Feral Rex is at full height here too:

As for Defensor, I just don't like the way GT's looks. I'm actually picking up the YES Model KO OS Guardia figures. Maketoys Guardia is my favorite Desensor design ever, but he was too small. The YES Model version is supposed to be about the same height as Warbo Bruticus when complete.

In terms of combiners missed from your list, I'd recommend adding both the:
TW throttlebots (orig 3P and KO OS'd). The OS going in your OS scale category.
WJ OS Defensor: If you cheat with the vehicles' leg extension when combined, then Defensor is slightly shorter than CW/UW Devastator, otherwise, probably in your Voyager scale.

There are other options, that aren't very good quality, like the OS Uranos/Superion that could also go in your OS scale category, but I'm not certain if you wanted to have a complete list of all potential combiners, even those slightly smaller than what you have in your 'Voyager? Scale'

Thank you for those additions, I'll edit my list.
I was trying to group thins by size of individual bots mostly.

Thanks for the photo - I hadn't seen that one.
He definitely looks too small. I may wait for GT/TFM or get the KO.
