While I agree with edgecrushers assessment of articulated hands and how important they are, the reality is that almost no-one actually does full articulation at this scale. XTB/KFC was probably the only one that reliably did proper articulation and even they're dropping that.
MMC, SXS and other IDW figures in this size range have mitten hands or even solid moulded fingers with at best a single pin. Expecting decent articulation from a car-bot is unfortunately doomed to disappointment for the most part.
I'm learning to accept that and what I really just want now is for the 3P and official manufacturers to work out some kind of standard wrist connection and stick to it, so that the after-market hands are usable across a range of figures. Even Takara within it's own line, tends to chop and change, mix and match how they connect their hands, such that you never know what kind of connection you'll need. But, much like the crazy inconsistencies in windscreen colour, I think we're doomed to have randomness in this and many other aspects of high grade TF design.

I'm not opposed to that. I'd prefer that to mitten hands any day :D

Doesn't have to be full, really. But being able to point the index finger straight is kind of a bare minimum, imho. Ideally, all the fingers can straighten out in a natural fashion. The frozen fist-mitten is the most disappointing bit of articulation to find on a masterpiece figure.

I don't mind mitten hands, what I do mind is when the index finger is independent of the others but can't point properly. What's the use?

That feature's usually paired with a defined trigger on the gun, so you can have trigger finger/fist options.

Works for taunting poses, or thinking gestures as well.

Thinking poses, I'd never even considered it thanks. Makes me rethink getting this figure because a thinking pose would be perfect for prowl

Debating on getting this guy or mmc kultur. I like a lot of mmc products and Kultur looks great but rebel is tempting.

I just got Kultur and he is top notch, I put him up there with Carnifex, Striker Manus and Rioter Despotron as the shining stars of my collection.

If it's one or the other, then obviously you've gotta make a call, but if eventually you'd be able to get both I'd go with Kultur now, who knows how much longer he'll be readily available.

Robot Kingdom is in Asia, so they get their stock as soon as it's released.

Depending on how it's being shipped, Kapow are usually a week or two after that.

I like this figure. But not being and IDW reader I don't associate the design with Prowl. I womder if a repaint is going to happen.

I have mixed feelings. I kinda want it but if more IDW designs for the core characters aren't going to happen, he's going to be out of place as Prowl.

If only he were blue or black or had a different head and name...

Much as i like the look of this Im gonna pass, I'm rapidly running out of space for my TF collection. IDW stuff is being consigned to legends scale only.

    Meh.

You obviously like this figure. Don’t need to justify it in some way to make it purchasable for you.

Won’t hurt you (or anyone else) to actually like IDW stuff. I mean this in no offensive way of course - a lot of things said on here get taken way too seriously. You aren’t cheating on your childhood or anything. Especially since (in my opinion) the IDW designs are leagues better than the shite that was plastered on our screens in the 80’s.

This is Prowl. He doesn’t need a different name (especially considering he is 100% better written than the drivel meant to appeal to a 10 year old boys brain) - but if you really wanted, you could call him Susan (or just stick to his 3P name).

Oh, it's not a not liking IDW. I just don't know anything about it and I just don't associate the design with Prowl. And with that scheme and that head I can't not see Prowl. You know?

If more of the core characters were in the IDW style then I could have somewhere to fit this figure in. But IDW Prowl and a team of MP core characters... I just can't make that mesh.

Now, that all said. I own Aero Alpha, have both Betas on order... and own the repaints of the MMC Hotrod. The word being repaints. I can make those unique characters... I just can't with this Prowl as Prowl.

He will go well with your MMC stuff. They’re all voyager sized also which is a good start.

Your best bet would probably to just google individual characters. No need to go all-in if your heart isn’t into it (or you just don’t have time/not interested in comics in general).

Prowl is very very complex and interesting. I haven’t kept up with the comics in awhile but he is definitely a sociopath (or sometimes even worse “ends justify the means”) and really a deep character. A far far extreme to his G1 self.
