Start off with the john barber prequels like "primacy", then read last stand of the wreckers, more than meets the eye, about halfway through, I would read sins of the wreckers, then read lost light.

Also, there's a lot better uses of your time. Watch the masterpiece "akira" instead.

Tbh, just watch the first seasons of g1 transformers, and watch the episodes: "Traitor", "Autobot run", "The master builders", "Megatron's master plan", and the combiner episodes and then watch the 86' movie.

No offense but to understand the story and characters and actually enjoy it, Bellowback would have to watch and read a lot more then just bits and pieces of shows and comics

I think Snowcat and the others have given you a bunch of food for thought already, but I'll throw in my 2 cents. I would watch a few of the G1 episodes others have recommended (some are interesting and entertaining...some are just filler) and I recommend watching the G1 movie. I also recommend reading at least the first several issues of the G1 Marvel comic. Those vintage media sources will give you a good foundation as to how Transformers started and will give you, perhaps, a greater appreciation for how far the franchise has come. And +1 on the quality of the Beast Wars show. I am a diehard "Ops Was A Truck" supporter, but the Beast Wars show is, in my opinion, the best animated Transformers series EVER!

I have the first 73 issues of the G1 US Marvel comic in PDF format (they only made 80 issues total in the series). Hit me up via PM if want me to send some your way.

Ehh, I wouldn't recommend the Autocracy series. If it's time you're worried about just read a random Spotlight issue or watch the Daicon IV animation (or any OVA made by Gainax or Trigger, for that matter).

I agree about starting with prime and animated. As for the G1 comics, they start out more kiddie but the last half have some great stories. IDW has reprinted them or you can get the titan books from amazon. Target 2006 is great but you may want to see the 86 movie with it.

Agree with beast wars. S1 had some outdated animation and simple plots but man s2 and s3 the show really takes off!

You may want to check out the dreamwave more then meets the eye profile books as they have info on all the transformers and it's world. The dreamwave armada comics are great also and some say better then the armada cartoon!

G1 cartoon is a must but you can wait till later to see them if you want. They are cheesy 80s fun (think he-man or thundercats) but do get darker with the movie and s3. Note it crosses over with gijoe a time or two but they are just fun nods.

You can watch the first live action movie also but the rest are mindless junk. (no offense to those who like them.)

    Voltron: Legendary Defender.

As far as TFs- Beast Wars is my personal favorite. You don’t need to have seen any other TF show to enjoy it as any outside elements are explained within the show.

But if you want a TF show that features all the iconic characters like Starscream, Soundwave, Jazz, etc, I’d say go with either Transformers Prime or Transformers Animated. They’re both good.

OP hasn't been back on since he made the thread. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think the guy's that interested in TFs right now.

The original comic, specifically starting with Simon Furman's debut with issue #56 and concluding with #80. Those 24 issues are almost like one long continuous story arc.

Right. Because a simple question or look around the corner for an opinion, coupled with deep thought and a plethora of other critical analysis thoughts and comments on Transformers lore is so tough to evaluate and find.
