Nope. But it doesn’t peg in as sturdily as I hope. I’m afraid the “gold chest split” part may not be able to hold the weight of the arm for a long time.

You know some POTP figures I am interested in getting and today I bought my first one mainly because he was the only one left Windcharger and well he has no back wheels.

I'm interested in more shots of how that whole armor set works on Grimmy, but the sword? Yeah. I'm into that

C'mon, third party forum, where's the inevitable post on this already? :p

Couldn’t hold out any longer. My local stores are taking their sweet ass time restocking from the holidays and I’ve been itching since the beginning of December. Finally bit the bullet and ordered all of Wave 1 Deluxes and Prime Master sets from BBTS tonight. I have the Legends figures and Dreadwind, but I’ve gotta have those Dinobots. Also, at least this way I can get a second gun for Dreadwind so he’ll look even in alt mode. Then I’ll probably just give the extra figure to my son. This is a late Christmas present to myself, it just had to be done. Maybe when I get paid again, I’ll try for Grimlock. He’s still sold out on BBTS unless you get both Voyagers as a set, but I’m still not sure how I feel about “Popeye” Starscream. Can’t wait for delivery!!!!!

Edit: Also seeing all these pictures of Volcanicus was starting to make me drool a bit. He’s looking better and better the more I see everyone’s pics. Keep em coming everyone!!!! Love this thread, love this hobby!!!!

Hopefully those PE parts will all come in one set and not be split into multiple $30-40 sets. Seems like they've been big into doing that lately.

I saw the top half of this picture and was like "wow that's great!", and then I scrolled down... and the torso kept going and going...

In a fit of utter madness I removed PotP Starscream's head to try to convert into a Headmaster. His head is remarkably to scale with the Titan Master heads (which also means its the same size as the other TR Voyagers if you're thinking its too small).

Just to note for people who are thinking about this in the future-- his head is glued together. He will fight tooth and nail to stay together. And ultimately, his head socket is slightly too big for a Titan Master peg (need hot glue to fix that).

I ended up putting his head back on his body because I don't have a way to remove his regular head peg. Maybe some other time if I ever figure out a reason why he should be a Headmaster (total ownage, noob).

I like the feet and the big ass sword but Im torn on the torso. I think the hip/crotch guard is too big and needs some articulated panels for better thigh movement.
Also I dont like that the thighs seem locked in one position like they did with Menasor, as I like to turn them sideways so the tip of the tail thickens them up.

I'm sure once in hand, people will figure out a way to fan mode their own configurations out of it.

The proportions look pleasing to me though so as far as I'm concerned, PE has done a good job buffing Volcanicus up as I'm now actually interested in getting this Dinobot combiner. Though it does help I already have a primary group of voyager/ultra sized Dinobots (FansProject), so I can easily handwave this group of combining deluxes and Grimlock into my collection.

Yeah, as long as its not like the Menasor hips which locked you into one position and stance. The only way to change it was cut away plastic with a dremel, which I'd rather not have to do. It looked great and I bought it, but I missed some of the lost articulation.
Im def interested to see the final version as Im one of the guys that like combining dinos.

    Dreadwind with Liege Maximo.

Maximo seems to work better with Dreadwind than Starscream.

The first Simon Furman comic I read was the Icarus Theory. I was already a committed fan of the UK Transformers comics when this came round and had loved the James Hill written stories like 'Christmas Breaker' and 'Crisis of Command' , which seemed even moodier than the American stories, which at that point were dealing with the conclusion of the headless Prime/Shockwave story. But man, Icarus Theory was something else entirely. Those scenes of the smokey board room just seemed so incredibly adult and sophisticated and Morris's bitter narration was utterly compelling. Many of the characters that I loved were the characters that Furman loved, and he really loved Swoop. He was so central to so many of those Dinobot stories and had the deepest backstory. Who didn't near piss themselves with excitement when he went up against Divebomb to reclaim his name (god that sounds goofy now).

Straight off, this is a KO Swoop. I wouldn't be able to be so glib if it wasn't. I don't even want to own an original swoop, G1 or Diaclone. Too much £££ for way too much </3.

I don't need to tell any of you that we didn't get Swoop in the UK. I was actually surprised when I found out he had a toy. Having only seen him in The Icarus Theory and Wrath of Grimlock I just assumed he was a comics only character for a long time. I can't remember where I saw the toy first. Probably a rogue US toy catalogue or something. Knowing I'd probably never be able to actually touch it I'd stare at it as long and hard as I can until I fool myself into thing I can imagine what holding it is like. I can feel it's sturdy, diecast weight in my hand. It's a pinnacle of toy engineering.

Fast forward to 2014 and I break it moments after getting it out the box.

I'd read and, in this modern age, even watched the reviews and knew all the horror stories. And this was a dodgy KO, so the quality was going to be even more suspect. So even with due care that fucking joint goes straight away. After I made my pre-order for PotP Swoop I decided to indulge myself and buy another KO Swoop. He sat in the box until I took these pictures and I was so incredibly careful with him. I didn't even pause to put the stickers on. This is practially an unboxing photo set.

And it's such a shame that he's such a fragile figure because it's such a cool looking toy. The head sculpt has that gorgeous visor and 'benign smile' combo that made Jazz so iconic. It's proportions are great and that those wings and that head fin give him such a great silhouette. I honestly think he's the best looking Dinobot, and they were the best looking of all the '84/'85 toys. The Pteranodon mode is just incredibly cool. I'm sure I've lost all objectivity but I think it's the best winged Tf mode in the world EVER.

The transformation is pretty elegant. I think that, fiddly as it is, the whole compress/extend the arms and slide the chest apart/together is quite ingenious and I'm surprised it's not more common. Oh but that neck joint.

I was a bit nervous about getting a Generations update of Swoop. I was nervous about getting updates of all the Dinobots. I think I'd resigned myself to them being combiners before the reveals. I was just praying they'd be still be good bots in thier own right. But Swoop really had to be good. At the same they did such incredible justice to Topspin, another childhood favourite, that I should maybe not be so nervous?

My faith was rewarded. Swoop is probabaly the stand out figure of PotP wave 1. Is he perfect? Not to my eye. Rather tediously, I'd want him to look just like how Barry Kitson used to draw him. But there's very good reasons why Hasbro shouldn't pander too hard to people like me. We're not a sustainable market.
So anyway, what he like? The head sculpt really captures the tech spec notion that Swoop is the 'good natured' Dinobot. He looks like a nice chap and that's oddly important. He's aprropriately lithe without ever looking cheap. I'm so glad they gave him his sword as it suits him oh so very well. It's also wonderfully easy to ignore that combiner port. Sometimes I have to remind myself that it's there.

The down sides are so...trivial that it's barely worth noting them but here goes. His dinohead sits over his waist swivel in such a way that you have to pop it up a wee bit if you want to tilt him so. His wings are great, but the way they curve down doesn't look quite right to me. I'm happy to dismiss this as a reflex from my inner G1 traditonalist. I'm not prepared to be so objective about him having a blue chest. RED CHEST NOW!

As excellent as the 'bot mode is, the dino mode is pure wizardry. The head looks mean and aggressive, with no nobbly beak and jaw articulation. The wings totally shine here, as they're just so adjustable and poseable. Having the legs follow the original transformation sequence so closely is immensely satisfying and makes for a suitably chunky but compact dino torso. What really surprised me was how much articulation and poseability they'd put into the dino feet. In a funny way those feet highlight what's made the Prime Wars trilogy; a real attention to detail that honours the past but isn't afraid to make some imagintaive tweaks.
