I'm very happy with Grimm,quirks and all. Being a triple changer of sorts l dont feel he suffers from the trip changer syndrome of having THAT one mode that is just utter shit and a total sacrifice for the other two modes. TR Blitzwing and T30 Springer avoid this plight masterfully. But Grimlock pulls off all three successfully by splitting the deficits between all three modes.

Flaws? Sure, but no mode is so poor l wouldn't enjoy displaying in that mode. In fact l have purchased two, one dedicated Volcanicus and one to fiddle with between bot and dino.

But no sword or gun........hmmmmmm *side eye* at Has/Tak......fixed with an extra MP sword....

 

I finally found a lone Grimlock at TRU!

But sadly, the paint on the visor is terrible.

May try to fix it or wait for another one to exchange it for.

 

Got him last night and I thought Grimlock mode was fine, dino bot was meh, and wow what a horrible torso with the huge wide chest and size 24 waist....so I added bruticus' silver hand/foot to help the silhouette. I thought the black is ok, but prefer silver.

 

Despite everyone's likes and dislikes, I'm actually liking Grimlock more and more. Sure he has his faults, being a robotic dinosaur who's a triple changer of sorts. The combiner feet as "weapons", where are the actual ones AKA the hand gun and sword? I'm looking right at you Hasbro! Using one of the Prime masters as a weapon for the combined mode, which works pretty well. Also, my Grimlock has super tight joints, thank goodness. I wonder if a G2 repaint is in the works??

 

My Grimlock has the opposite of super tight joints lol. Those shoulders that are supposed to click make no audible sound- they're more like what vange1us calls a "soft detent." It is not a strong joint on mine. In addition the red part that has the two tabs sticking up that connects the waist in both robot and torso modes - those red tabs slide in and out pretty easily in both modes - they do not make a solid connection.

My copy feels like one of those figures that you go to shift one thing and two or three other things come untabbed. Even the gold chest comes untabbed in all modes without much pressure.

From reading this thread it sounds like some people got halfway decent copies.

Mine feels cheap, small, sloppy, and badly done.

I'm not home, and this just occured to me, but does Alternators Grimlocks sword fit? TBH, I don't even recall if it's 5 mm compatable or not, so this may be a real foolish question.

Same gun as Octane’s. I’m just using it on its side.

 

So I just tried Octane’s gun again and it DOES fit in the right orientation. The post is indeed just a hair too short but the claws are the perfect width to fit in the gap underneath the gun and hold it in place. Works great.

I love the figure myself, first was bummed it didn't come without his signature sword or gun(cloudburst does make a fine replacement for the gun) but I found a solution that I really like.

weapon one: add one of the fist from the other dinobots to the end of the combiner foot accessory the mini pegs on the thumbs fit right inside Grim's 5mm hand you can now go down two routes, with the fingers out you have a giant hulkhand like gauntlet or fold the fingers in and you have yourself a nice looking cannon that can use two power masters.

Weapon two: same idea but except of placing the foot on Grimlock's forearm turn it upside down and have him hold it in his hand by the grey peg, turn the fist anyway you like to make a stock and attach one of the pretender shells (in my case cloudburst) into the foot and now you have a gun that can use three powermasters (4 if you leave one inside the shell)

 

How does it combine?

 

She clips very securely on Grimlock's holes using her dino arms and dino feet.

 

This configuration looks amazing & it's incredible that this wasn't planned by the designers (or was it?, lol).
All three were good, but this is by far the best imho - nice discovery!
