Yep! Just tried it out after thinking on this for a bit. It takes a bit of rocking back and forth over his hand, but it can be done.

Edit: Added pics. Sorry for using the flash. My wife’s sleeping next to me and I wasn’t about wake her with the light.   Also, you have to over-extend the landing gears and then it will friction hold.

 

I did chuckle at the part where Hot Rod got hit so hard his guns were left spinning in mid-air.

 

So he can do it, but he's not meant to. Gotcha.

 

I wonder if this is what going to happen at the end of the TR series.

Yeah possibly. Although Hasbro allows my YouTube vids (under their copyright, meaning I can't monetize them) so there's an unspoken endorsement. Unfortunately I'm only really into Masterpiece (plus it best suits what I'm doing with my films, being most accurate to the original characters) so I have to fill the gaps in the line-up somehow.

I do use official figures wherever possible (this includes replacing some characters such as Megs and Shockwave when MPs come along later, and saying a big NO to stuff like Hoodlum and Meteor), and in an ideal world of course everything would be official... but in some cases I think that's never going to happen. I am still intending to complete Episode One, and that will mostly be official. We'll see whether HasTak want to do anything with it when I'm finished - naturally I'd be very happy to have them use it!

If I had known this was by Machinima, I wouldn't have clicked on it in the first place.

I feel like I just watched an episode of Dragon Ball Super.

 

I feel like the series has been too decompressed, but this might be a bit too far in the other direction. If they could find a pacing medium between the series and this commercial, that would be perfect.

 

This is badass! I like stop motion and i like the fast paced action here.

 

Wow. That was more entertaining than their actual episodic series. 

 

Love how Hot Rod was blown backwards leaving his guns spinning in the air. Nice touch.

Both videos are fantastic and big fun to watch.

loved that hot rod has learned from the movie, shoot the gun don't jump on the immensely powerful villain! this is what season 4 should have been! those two working side by side! hot rod getting over his insecurities and prime training him to be the next leader.

hot rod learning to think before he acts and prime learning to lighten up a call back to easier times when he could play basketball with spike. I could see it as a father and son bonding thing directed by spielberg

Not gonna lie, I had the biggest grin on my face watching this... Hasbro if you’re watching, we need a full series of this stat!  

Oh, & I can’t be the only person wishing Hot Rod had been so useful helping Prime in the ‘86 movie  

 

Better than Combiner Wars or Titans Return series......and very nostalgic too......nicely done.
