And I acknowledged that fact, but because we're in a Transformers-centric part of the forums, that's where I was coming from initially. It wasn't helped that your arguments parallel many of the specific comments made specifically about Transformers in the last ~5 years. So again, we got off on the wrong foot, carrying on a conversation where we were both coming at it from two slightly disjointed viewpoints. Moving on.

Coming from the low point of the Fall of Cybertron lineup? Hell yes there's been improvements. Not as great as things were back around Animated/Revenge of the Fallen/Universe, but they're finding a more solid middle ground between those points. Triggerhappy, Top Spin, and Twin Twist could stand toe-to-toe with anything from those "halcyon days".

I'm not denying that competition is a factor, but you go the opposite direction and chalk everything bad up to competition, when there's been all manner of internal shake-ups within the industry that fully account for the complaints you're making.

US-1 like the slot-car highway system made to work with HO scale model trains? I wish they'd bring that back and modernize it... had a bunch of it as a kid, and more than once Mom had to talk me out of trying to repaint one of the cab-overs to match Optimus Prime.

Better yet, since my model railroading is mainly keyed on the 1930s to 1950s, have both "Now" and "Then" lines... the old stuff can crossover as "collector vehicles" like how once in a while you still see 50s and 60s cars ont the road today. :)

The slot-car truck of US-1 got a Marvel comics series in the 80's.

From what I can find on Mattel, they might have to sale to Hasbro, that is only if they keep losing money the way they are.

DC would be awesome to see in a (better) Legends format. Not like Icons.

Does Mattel still have Shogun Warriors?

So the possible reason Mattel said no to Hasbro might have to do with the upcoming live-action Barbie movie starring Anne Hathaway as Barbie that's coming out August 8, 2018.

...i think licensing for all the sundry shogun warriors toy designs is a bit of a rightsholder minefield; mattel may hold the trademark but that doesn’t make the original toys fair game for reissue...

Mattel no longer has Shogun Warriors. The individual characters are owned by their respective companies and the name is (or was, if they've now abandoned it) owned by Toynami...who showed some in-house designs but managed to only offer Godzilla and Futurama's Bender under the line.

Could the reason Hasbro wants Mattel could be that Hasbro realized they don't as many characters as Marvel and DC to use for the Hasbro Cinematic Universe. Could that be the reason why they are going to buys all of Power Rangers in the near future?
