Watch the original Blade Runner on 4K/UHD. It's an absolutely gorgeous looking movie. The format really shines in the dark sequences, neon lights and the detailed model work.

    Question:

What device are you guys using for your UHD disks?
I was planning on getting a PS4 Pro, but now realize it doesn't have a UHD-disk drive.

    So, my hunt begins.
I'm leaning toward an Xbox One S.
    What are your setups like?

    Thanks.
I was leaning toward an LG of similar size. :D

I read that curved screens are for group viewings? I don't have much friends over because l hoard my collectables like SMAUG from Lord of the Rings.
Is it really the better option?

Recently got a 75 inch 4k Sony TV and have been watching Blu-rays on that as well as native 4K content using a dedicated 4K player+upconverter from LG. The screen size makes ALL the difference. And I watch from less than 10 feet away. Used to be the larger screens were impractical in smaller rooms because the display quality broke down if you sat too close. Well with good 4K, 75 inches looks GORGEOUS. I could never go back.

I went with a $100 LG player because I already had a PS4 for gaming. Otherwise the XBox One S is probably the best deal out there for a 4K player IF you find a use for everything else the Xbox offers. You can get one for around $200, not terribly much more than a lot of baseline 4K players. I've heard there is no quality drop-off from the dedicated players, and it also upconverts 1080p content.

I'd go for the biggest screen size you could possibly afford and fit into your living space. With the 4K quality you can't go too big and it makes it SO cinematic. Pair with a good soundbar at least for maximum effect (especially for the TF movies).

To be honest I don't really notice it much unless I am looking at it at an angle, I'll be using a computer and glance at it from time to time. In that case I think it's a better view than a flat screen. I mostly got it because at the time, Black Friday, it was marked down to 499.

Right now, all the Transformers 4Ks are involved in a special offer from Amazon, buy 3 select 4K movies for $49.99! The sale prices won’t show up until you’re almost done completing the purchase, but it works.

I just needed ROTF and AOE, which I didn’t buy when they were released due to them not having the IMAX ratios, and the ROTF 4K doesn’t have the extra IMAX footage in the forest fight either. But the fact that they have Dolby Atmos sound and Dolby Vision made me still want them, but for a sale price. So now they’re ordered, along with the first Cloverfield!

I'm on a 55 inch and I want to go bigger. It's true. Once you go big, it's hard to go back. I was one of those who had a 32 and was like,"50 inch tvs are unnecessary." Until I got one.

Reviving this thread from the dead as I've recently upgraded to a 4K TV and was thinking about upgrading my TF Blu-rays.

Just to confirm then, the 4K ROTF disc doesn't included the expanded imax aspect ratio for certain scenes? It always annoyed me that on Blu-ray only the Best Buy exclusive version had that (at least I think it was them), whilst the other versions were all cropped to match the rest of the films 2:40:1 ratio. What about DOTM and AOE? I think those have some imax scenes too.

I already have the TLK 4k which does have the shifting aspect ratio, but just wanted to know about the others.

Sadly no, TLK is the only 4K Transformers with shifting aspect ratios.

The exclusive, was with Walmart. Dotm & AOE were released on a Blu 3D, but not IMAX.

That's a shame. I've never understood why having the version with the imax aspect ratio scenes was made a store exclusive on Blu-ray, and not including them with the 4K release feels like a missed opportunity. Looks like I'll be holding onto the blu-ray for now.

So far as I know, the Xbox One X is the only console that plays 4K blu-ray. Which honestly, is super weird.

EDIT: Wait, I tell an untruth. According to several reviews on the internet, the One S does do 4K BluRay and HDR. Hmmmm.

If the bloody PS5 didn't do 4K bluray I'd be sending in the security services to find out which parasitic alien race has taken over the managerial heads at Sony because the fact that the PS4, or at least PS4 Pro didn't do that was fucking insane.

Yes. Wish I could have the TF 2007, IMAX version, which I saw only once at a theater. Eventhough the three extended scenes were humans only, I'd still want it for completion's sake.
Speaking of ... wish an even longer, messier version of TLK would come out :-D

Edit: the AOE 3D blu-ray was actually the IMAX version - almost forgot about that. Looks awesome.
