While I never watched the finale, I did try Predacons Rising. I couldn't honestly finish it and fast-forwarded through a lot.

Sure would be egg on Prime's face if Megatron was lying and/or had another change of heart and went back to being a geonocidal murderer again.

I mean, don't get me wrong, I am a strong advocate for idealistic heroes and doing what's right even when it's not convenient. I don't like my superheroes to murder, and I like to think everyone no matter how bad deserves basic human decency because it is what makes us and the heroes just. I don't like fighting fire with fire and using the excuse that because they're bad, they deserve executon and torture and having their spark ripped out etc.

However, that doesn't mean they shouldn't be punished. I'm also an advocate for justice and heroes who defeat evil, not obliterate it. Megatron is a monster. I don't care if he learned what it's like to be truely oppressed, he is responsible for the loss of a whole planet. Statistics fail to encompass the horrors he's gleefully committed, and getting away without so much as a slap on the wrist is an afront to the species. He deserves punishment. Incarcerate him. You don't have to destroy him, but he cannot simply go free. I just imagine all the millions of death and desecrated lookign down from the Allspark and saying "Oh, well how nice for him. He was a puppet for an afternoon and know thinks he knows true suffering. Sure, he deserves to go free." And then they all collectively spit ghost gobs at him.

I feel like this was a knee-jerk reaction to the TF movies where Optimus has been characterized as a tremendously unstable person fixated on utter annihiliation of anyone who crosses him. But in being reactionary and choosing the simplified route, they completely dumbed down the story to a farcically soppy extreme. They did this in IDW as well, Megs going good and denouncing Decepticons. And it was pretty stupid and poorly handled but the circumstances were far better, with Megatron effectively conning his freedom rather than being gifted it. And not everybody in-story liked it. (in fact almost nobody did, even his crewmembers) Here it's just... in-universe, it feels disrespectful and negligent. In real life it feels simplified and pandering to an audience they don't feel is deserving or smart enough to see the nuance and grey areas of these issues. They chose the cartoonish opposite rather than the stable middle-ground. They just threw up their hands and said "everyone gets a happy ending!"

Should everyone deserve a second chance? Sure, I like to think so. Should everyone be held accountable for their actions? Absolutely. That's why we put criminals in prison. There is a middle ground between obliterating them and a pat on the back and a free pass.

I've been talking about the Formspring RP for the entirety of this blog and I'll happily admit it was one of my absolute favorite Transformers memories.

I loved the months of Orion Pax (who in our RP actually fought alongside the Cons before oops the season 2 premiere picked up immediately after season 1). I loved the months on the run without a base and being hunted. I loved the semi-OC's we had in Slipstream, Thundercracker, Skywarp. I loved Airachnid of all people thanks to Formspring. I loved the non canon fights we'd have. Optimus taking the time out to have Fowler buy a traumatized Raf some chocolate chip cookies and milk. June and Fowler actually dating. Miko drawing cute doodles of the cast. Wyatt mercilessly heckling us sometimes.

But I would be remiss to mention Formspring without telling you all about Moosetron.

He played Armada Megatron and later Galvatron, and... damn. He was just like the big brother of the RP. He was a great friend and support to all of us. He was always funny and silly and such a smartass as the big Moose. It was awesome when he either spared with or fought Prime Megs (who was WAY more interesting on the RP than he was in the show). And his character even became the Conjunx Endura of TFP Starscream. And G1 Skywarp.

Yeah that was kinda... odd. But nevertheless, Moosetron was a big rock of our RP. The official leader, who played TFP Optimus and Megs, as well as Movie Megs, wasn't around as often as he'd like. So Moosetron was like, well, like I said, the big rock.

But he got sick. Really sick. Around the time Prime ended, he made an announcement that he wouldn't live to see Christmas 2013, because of leukemia. And he worked it into his character too. Galvatron was dying, and eventually died peacefully mere days before Moosetron died too on New Years Eve 2013. So yes, he got to live to Christmas, which was his last wish. David Kaye and Steve Blum, bless them, both made videos for Moosetron. I don't know the exact content because they were private, but I do know they did a little bit here and there in character as Galvatron and Starscream.

I can't say I knew Moosetron that well, but I was sad and hurt nonetheless. The loss of Moosetron was a loss of a lifeline of the RP. Truth be told, it really mostly ended in late 2014 after Age of Extinction. Some players left because the happy memories of Moosetron hurt too much. Some, including me, are still there.

The night that Deadlock aired, I made a post commemorating the end. I'll recreate it now.

"Tonight, Transformers: Prime's run comes to an end with its 65th episode. Prime has seen some really huge ups and some really, really huge downs. But for all of us on the RP, it was always a source of fun, and friendship, and laughs. Through all the relic BS and the season breaks and the sudden character deaths, we've had fun this whole time. And that's what's important, and I'm grateful to the showrunners for giving us this opportunity to get to know each other and have fun together the past three years."

    And some more like that.

When I look back on Prime that all still holds true to this day. Yes, it absolutely earned the epic Burnout rants it's gotten since its end. But yes, it also gave me one of my favorite memories in this fandom and in my life.

I'll do another post with some images I can dig up from the RP.

Thank you Cap for giving me this opportunity to remember all the fun times both in the show and on the RP. And still, RIP to that big gay Moose.

I haven't kept up with this thread, well, pretty much at all. I think this is my third visit to the thread actually.

However, the following I like it so much, I should date it. :p

Okay, I'm glad you enjoyed the series Slayer, I'll admit, as terrible as the show is (and frankly, I think it's among the worst), it did actually give us some pretty cool toys, not oodles of them, but a few really fun ones.

The toys are alright, nothing too stellar in terms of the actual main characters (except Arms Micron War Breakdown, that toy is 99% accurate, only missing the in-knee wheels because of needing to phase through solid plastic and it's an amazing toy, too bad it's Japan only). First Edition Cliffjumper and RID Rumble are pretty good, but credit where it's due - the Vehicon troop builder (ironically underpacked in every case wave it was in) is a god-tier deluxe with the magic it pulls off.

    You don't say. ;)

I'm also quite fond of the second Voyager Predaking, despite being a "simplified" character, his size and solidity make up for that.

Wealth? The regular troopers were $5. 5 Below that winter, they got cases of that wave. At first I was going to get some of the other minor characters (Rumble, Dead End), and a pair of Vehicons to stand next to the Arms Micron I had, but then went with getting a Vehicon squad. I didn't even clean them out over three visits.

The Vehicon in the front is the Arms Micron version, which I got along with the Jet version as I had never seen one in stores at that point and figured it was the only way to ensure I got one at all, months before the 5 Below boon.

Don't forget about Cyberverse! It was the only way to get the entire cast. Megatron's robot mode in particular looked like it walked right out of the cartoon. And hell I like tiny cute Breakdown for what he is (thanks in no small part to his status as plucky comic relief in @Ratchets Hatch 's amazing Cyberversal comic).

I didn't know it at the time but I actually own a Prime Wheeljack Deluxe.

I found the figure at a 2nd & Charles for $3 and didn't realize it was supposed to be Wheeljack until I watched the show. I'd completely forgotten I bought it.

Oh, yeah, Wheeljack is one of the most solid figures in the line as well - First Edition grade engineering with pin-axle wheels (as opposed to clip-on wheels which became highly prevalent at this time).

I'm like the Dark Energon subline of toys, which were BigBadToystore exclusives I believe. They didn't resemble anything that happened on the show, but I have a fondness for translucent plastic in bright colors.

    (Pic is from here.)

Okay, Bumblebee is kind of dull but I love the rest of them.

I also like that the packaging implies that the Autobots saw the Decepticons getting hopped up on Dark Energon and were like, "Wow, clearly our only hope of stopping them is if we too do the robo drugs."

I'm looking forward for your new blog about RID2015. I would like to remind you that don't expect RID2015 to be anything similar to the "Dark and Mature" Prime cartoon. I think that you'll enjoy it more if you went into it with zero to no expectation that it'll be the same thing as Prime did.
