Trouble for any Transformers that turn into jets, like the Aerialbots or Seekers, is that there aren't a lot of new planes in military service. The seekers might be F-22 Raptors, like in the Bay movies, but the F-15s they and Air Raid turned into in G1 are still in service, so they could just as viably still turn into them. Skydive's Alt mode, an F-16, is also still in service, however Fireflight's Silverbolt's and Slingshot's were retired in 1996, 2003, and 2006 respectively. So perhaps these would be fit replacements
Fireflight: this Northrop F-20 Tigershark looked perfect, but there were only 3 built back in the seventies.

Silverbolt: Boom Supersonic passenger jet concept

Megatron was a Walther P38 so if we stick with Walther 9MMs a modern example would be the PPQ M2.

Soundwave might be the hardest. He was a portable cassette player. Anything today that is a portable music player would be way too thin to accommodate him.

Also, any portable media player also adds in features like a camera - so there goes Reflector (that weird 3-bot camera Decepticon that appeared only once in the 80's show)

I think Optimus would be great as a Freightliner Argosy. It's the same truck that Age of Extinction Galvatron transformed into, though I think that it fits Optimus much better.

Given the branding on this particular one, you could pair it with SpaceShipTwo / White Knight Two (Virgin Galactic vehicles) as Astrotrain

Kinda looks like it, now that you mention it. I went to Google Images and searched for “yellow unicycle” and that showed up as one of the results.  

 

G1 HotRod reminded me a little bit of the old Ford GT40, so for a modern version i'd think the new version of the car would work, just add his iconic rear spoiler/wing are we're all set

I was going to say Ironhide as a Hummer and then realized Hummer's aren't really modern anymore. I never see them. But when gas was $5 a gallon in 2005, they were everywhere...
