Hi guys, long-timer lurker first time poster. First up apologies if this isn't the right forum for this post. (It's my first after all, mods feel free to shift it to the right place) I'm looking for some advice on the repaint potential of Thunderclash from Leader Class Cybertron Optimus Prime. I've attached some rough (really rough) digibashes of the colour scheme I'm mulling over. This will be the second repaint I've done, so I'm still a complete novice. I'm planning to wash/clean the figure, take all the easy to remove pieces apart, and paint using citadel paints. I'm going to read up on the tutorials for prepping painting over the holiday break. Any thoughts/tips on the colour scheme/apps are appreciated. (Note I did make some changes to the Super truck mode/robot mode which I haven't had time to update across all three, so any differences are mostly intentional ) Cheers and Happy Holidays to everyone on the boards.
I would suggest if you make Thunderclash, you modify the chest windows so they're more flat plates, add the lights and then have the winged eagle graphic on that. Lot cleaner. otherwise, yes please. I love me a good Thunderclash anything!
nice, thisll probably be the first thunderclash thats able to carry the matrix like his idw self props on making use of the tutorial thread too
That's a great suggestion, any tips on the best way of filling them in? I was thinking of molding cutting some plastic to hang over them like a shell to get more of a Thunder-clashy vibe but I need to source the materials. Any tips appreciated Yes, definitely part of the appeal of using this mold. Unfortunately the loose junker I bought for the custom is missing the Matrix and his Cyber Key. Which makes sense as Thunderclash was only holding the Matrix temporarily I actually thought this mold fits in well with the POTP leader gimmick, in that you have the base robot and alt mode which upgrade to super when you add the Matrix.
For my Nova Prime....I shaved down the high spots and glued some 1mm styrene onto the window "frame". Then used Tamiya putty to hide the seam. If you do it right, it'll look like it was made like that from the factory. Then all you gotta do is add the details just make sure you don't accidentally shave off the teeth that lock the winfows together on the chest
Thanks Primal, I'm picking up my paints this weekend and should have some WIP progress pics later during the holiday break. Apologies if I jumped the gun!
I've moved your thread to Creative General Discussion, which is our "think tank" to use prior to showcasing work. Once you have work to share, just post a new thread in Customs. Thanks for coming put of lurking to post!
Just wondering if anyone seen any replicas of the Matrix that fits Cybertron Optimus on Shapeways or similar? Cheers!
As no progress made on the project so far have decide to switch to using the new Siege Leader Optimus Mold. Quick Digibash attached. Hoping to get some spare time in this year to work on the darn thing
