I too am looking to get in on this line. I judged by all the positive reviews that I'll be happy with them so I've ordered myself a bunch.

When deciding which ones to get first I decided to go for the ones that I think will sell out first. I ordered Ultra Magnus classic color, Scorponok, Blitzwing, and Drift. I had also ordered an OP but it was from that ebay seller who went off the rails and suddenly started racking up negative feedback. Oh well, complaint filed.

I'd really like to get the Prowl triplets, Windblade and OP but I can't pay aftermarket prices or Robot Kingdom shipping (if you can find them at all!).

So, does Iron Factory do 2nd or 3rd runs? If not then that Ultra Magnus has been hanging around for a looooong time.

Blitzwing is actually not that great. He's one of the only IF figures I've heard a good amount of complaints on, mostly for being near impossible to tab in and having kind of meh alt modes even for an IF figure, where alt modes used to not be so great (they've definitely gotten better with them over time however). As for IF not doing runs, I've heard they don't, but then again, all of these Ultra Magnus' must keep coming from somewhere, because he was released a LONG time ago as far as 3P's are concerned, and several stores in the US have restocked him SEVERAL times over the years. Unless IF just made a HUGE initial batch of him and had him clogging up warehouses or something, but I don't think that would be the case, because he was a fairly popular figure and what got most people into IF figures in the first place.

That said, praying for a Datsun reissue or a bunch of them to be found in a warehouse or a sudden restock or SOMETHING.

 

Yeah, I've seen the issues with Blitzwings feet not plugging together in plane mode but he still looks great in bot mode. With legends I'm not nearly so critical of alt modes as I am with larger TFs so I'll probably be ok with it.

So I received Bridge Watcher from my wife as a Christmas gift, he's my first experience with an Iron Factory figure and he's very cool but I was hoping he'd be a bit more sturdy. I'm worried about the base of the ball joint that holds on his feet, mine already has a stress mark on it after transforming him just a couple of times.

Would those of you with Bridge Watcher and other I.F. figures say he is more fragile or less fragile than the average I.F. toys? I'm pretty careful with my stuff it's just an extremely tiny connection point for such a tight joint. What I was looking for out of these were to get some sturdy little bots to fiddle with and flip back and forth between modes and that also looked great when posed up on the shelf.

 

IF usually uses pretty good plastic, but they usually have a problem with things being a bit tight. It's also possible it got stressed when it was put on the ball joint, especially if it was tight. Was it tight and you forced it? Because you might want to invest in some lube. In fact, for 3P stuff in general, you'll probably want some lube and some future shine.

 

I've got some future, but no lube, what is recommended for figures? It was tight right out of the box, I don't recall forcing it but it could have been my bad, I wouldn't say I'm heavy handed in general.

 

The only IF toy I've had any problems with was their Sixshot - one of the shoulders broke off at the peg that connects it to the body. That was more a case of bad design, though, not poor materials. Iron Factory was also nice enough to send me an entire replacement torso, so in case of emergencies you can rely on some really good support from the company.

And for toy lubing you're going to want something called "shock oil." It's the go-to for loosening overly tight joints.

 

Shock oil as in the oil for RC car shocks?

 

Yeah. Never used it myself, but a lot of people swear by it.

 

Another alternative is graphite lube. Also works wonders.

 

This is what I use. I got mine from a hobby shop. It's made for plastic and won't degrade it.

They are all so good. I started with Windblade then Arcee but what really got me going was Starscream, Thundercracker and Skywarp. Now I have nearly all of them. Bruticus is my Favorite!!
