Which Bee do you think possessed superior combat skills? For me, while RID Bee has his impressive moments, I feel like the Prime Bee fought more smoothly, acted faster, and had more punches in. He can effectively keep his ground against the toughest ‘Cons. This is one of the things that disappointed me in RID: a few punches in and they’re knocked out. It’s like Bee became weaker in RID. What do you guys think?
I agree. Most of the Autobots in RID are weaker than before. Especially Optimus "You were not built for speed."- Drift Did Drift watch TF: Prime?
One punched Skyquake's guts out. The other got owned by Inspector Dropforge who was a third his size.
I think it's a bit of a tricky question since the shows are so different. Like, the cinematography and elaborate fights in TFP were definitely a major part of the show, whereas RID tended to have much simpler animation and not so much of a fighting focus. That said, TFP Bumblebee does win it for me.
RID Bumblebee might have gotten weaker because of peace. Prime Bumblebee was a seasoned Scout who had the skills of a Warrior Class but didn't advance because of personal reasons.
Him in Prime. In Prime the autobots were maybe OP but at least that made them cool and badass. In Prime they get there butts kicked so much by c list bad guys it makes me cringe.
The bots seemed really weak in RID compared to Prime. Felt like fights were always with super pulled punches. Granted RID didn't have paper Steve's for the Bots to outright slaughter. But I'm sure if Predaking had appeared, he would've been almost helpless against big bad Steeljaw with the Decepticon Hunter's (terrible, unoriginal name too).
I think the no-kill policy made rounding up the Cons harder in general. Bumblebee was generally the most talented member of his team and I think they made that an intentional point several times. But Prime, being a different sort of show set in wartime had a seemingly much more effective sort of action. Skyquake is a perfect example. I suppose if he wanted to Bee could have to ripped Steeljaw's guts out, but is that really the sort of guy he is?
RID Bee suck stingers, just like the rest of the show. Prime was dark yet campy, but reality wasn't too far removed. RID...was meh
I think that's an interesting thought - perhaps peacetime Bee is a "suckier" fighter (or appears to be) because he's no longer part of an elite cadre of soldiers who fought to kill and win. In Prime, he was a stone cold killer because the stakes were very high and he had to be. In RiD the stakes throughout most of the series was trying to catch a bunch of crazy people. Cops don't go straight up commando on the guy that thinks the universe is a video game or is convinced that he's on a mystic quest for a magical city, or bazooka a guy in the face for what amounts to theft. That's what RiD Bee is: a cop. So maybe he's not any worse than he was before - he just can't straight up murder Steeljaw in the face because if he did, RID15 would be a very short series.
It's hardly a contest Prime Bumblebee was as much as a Mary Sue as the Movie incarnation. I mean, he killed Megatron didn't he? RID Bumblebee's whole thing is that he's an underdog, kinda like Animated Optimus and BW Optimus. He's a guy coming into his role as a leader, so he can't be as ultimate action hero as Prime Bee was.
...I don't think killing Megatron made him a "Mary Sue". He wasn't really an unstoppable, all knowing, or universally worshiped killing machine in Prime. He frequently made rash or stupid decisions and paid for them on more than one occasion until they brought in Smokescreen to fill that role. In other words, I don't think this is something you'd see a Mary Sue being forced to do: Certainly, Bumblebee played a greater heroic role in TFP than he did in other shows, was visibly more adept at combat than his RID15 incarnation, but I disagree that he was any kind of superpowered author stand in.
Not an author stand in obviously. Overpowered is how I remember him, but I have not watched every episode of Prime, so I probably exagerate based on what I saw.
I don't think TFP Bee was OP. A competent fighter but never really sold to us as the murder machine. But they were fighting mostly Vehicons and, outside of the series pilot, Vehicons weren't very threatening in this series. Him killing Megatron was a sucker punch. Megatron did not even see this coming.
Have to agree with a lot of the analysis here. In TF: Prime, Bumblebee is a soldier fighting and killing other soldiers because he has to. In RID, he's a cop rounding up the criminally insane. I'm sure in a situation more akin to Transformers: Prime, he'd have defeated or destroyed most of the Cons in RID, but that's not his job in RID, and that's clearly not the kind of guy he is off the battlefield.
i feel like peace slowed him, plus having to command and coordinate a chaotic team really slowed his reaction skils
