    Reboot? OK...but what happens to unicron in the last film then? We are going to pretend that all five movies never happened?

    Everybody involved with this movie has said it is a prequel to the 2007 movie and in the same universe as the others. If anyone where to refer to it as a reboot though its a reboot in the same way AOE was said to be a reboot, new human cast, new, or redesigned robot cast.

    Well if Bee talks, it's a reboot.

    If not, then it's just a side story.

    Judging from Bee's design and what @emoo said, I doubt it would be a reboot, but who knows

    A spacebridge malfunction alters the timeline, reboots the film series, and resurrects all of those fan favorites needlessly killed.

    Plus point from that, they could try from zero to make a decent cinematic universe with new direction (just like what Bay said) and fan favorite characters.
    The minus point? Unicron's first debut in live action is delayed...sigh

    Given that the studio isn't really clear on the meaning of the word reboot it's not all that shocking if one of the stars doesn't have a complete and total grasp of the concept. Although it should be interesting to see how they attempt to sell the movie to the general public.
