I picked him up because of the $59.99 price tag. His size puts him out of place with other parts of my collection, and I really like the look of some of the other MP Springers we have coming our way, so I probably would not have picked him up for anything close to full price.

But at $59.99...whoa...he's a great pick up. Very solidly built with ratchets all over the place. He is a solid recommend at that price.

The more time I spend with him the more annoyed I get that this didn’t start a whole line based around him and the designer. At the very least I could have done with a whole 1986 cast in this aesthetic as it’s what I always wanted. Something that felt solid but fun.

A good portion of my collection comprises of pieces I don’t want to transform because I just don’t feel that they’ll hold up. I feel like part of the problem because I didn’t snag this guy when he came out and he deserves to be picked up even not on sale. Anyone know who the designer is and if he has anything else coming out because I’m highly interested at this point. Simple, Clean and fun.

Just got Allen in the mail today, and he is a big chunk of awesome! He may not scale all that great with official MPs, but I don't think I care! Thanks again for the recommendations on him!

Allen’s a giant plastic piece of fun. He’s been on my boy’s dresser since I got him and I transform him almost every day.

Although rather than being content, I feel like I want all the other Springers too...

What are the others that are out already?

If no one has one, I'm wondering if there is a way to contact UT via email to inquire about the parts.

As Apache hits, let us all take a moment to give a shout-out to Allen, able to produce two excellent alt modes with half the fuss of Fanstoys' effort:

When the dust finally settles on the Springer Wars, the survivors will likely credit Allen with having brought the best alt modes to the table.

His car isn't a stump like Big Spring, or a train like Apache. His chopper is big and beastly. In both modes, he achieves an accuracy to the Sunbow lineart that the competition can't touch. To the extent that there IS a demographic of collector that wants to stick a Springer on a flight stand in copter mode and leave him there, Allen currently is the best you can do, and may ultimately end up the best you will ever do.

    *sigh....but that bot mode.

It feels dumb to harp on it. Everyone getting this guy goes in knowing the proportions are..."unique" and the face isn't very Springer like. But nonetheless, they are issues. And unlike say, Badcube's Insecticons , whose idiosyncrasies grew on me over time. Allen looks just as "off" to me as the day I got him. The terrible face sculpt plays a huge role in this. It's not just objectively terrible (although it is), but terrible for this particular figure. If Allen had a big-jawed Saturday morning cartoon mug, his whole aesthetic would make sense. Granted, he still wouldn't fit into a MP collection, but his look would be consistent. Instead he got the a face of an emaciated genericon doing his best Universe Kup impression. It throws the appearance of the whole figure.

Nothing else about Allen fails, but nothing really stands out either. His build is good, transformation is solid, QC is ok. Poseability is decent, albeit not outstanding.

At $60, not a regrettable purchase, however I'm ultimately swapping out for Apache when BBTS comes through.

Allen's alt-modes are the best, but also take into consideration that his bot mode also has a very small backpack unlike the competition...

Honestly, if Allen's colors were darker (like Apache) and the face was fixed, I'd probably keep him.

Love the transformation, particularly between Bot and Copter modes...

I'll likely switch him with XTB when that eventually comes out... but for the first time in a while, FT didn't win me over

    Still love my Allen..
He's a chunky monkey no doubt..And although Apache looks insanely good...I have no desire to swap out Allen.
    He's a keeper

And yes...Both alt modes are still the best imho

I pulled him out last night to decide whether he still fit the bill or whether I did need Apache.

Allen still works for me. I’ve never minded his robot mode, and as has been mentioned, he has no significant backpack.

My son wants me to get Apache just so I’ll give him Allen, but it’s not looking so good for him.
