I have my set but my Walgreens has like 5 more sets lmk if I can help anyone out

I cleared the two out in Chesterfield, at 23/Gratiot. (They were NOT with the TF's in the "normal" toy section, but in their own spot with the seasonal add-on toy section.)
Never did find them in New Baltimore, so I'm guessing that one's still open to finding them at - I won't be stopping at Walgreens again any time soon...

 

SO I found these today on sale too. Wasn’t even gonna do this to myself but for $15 why not. What’s the word on the other set? Is it out now? Great lol now I have to track em down

If you mean Fastlane and Pounce, there is no set planned for them. Unless you get the Takara versions.

They only reason that this two pack was released at all was that they cancelled the two box sets they were originally going to be included in.

Was the cancellation of the other two sets ever confirmed?

There has been alot of speculation about that ranging from full cancellation to carryover into the PotP line.

 

So the other two hasbro clones can only be had as the whatever set or loose? Haven’t been following this cause I had no intention of getting them

 

I picked up this set the other day, and went to ebay to see if I can get a Fastlane / whatever his new name is.

I aint paying that for a shrink dink legends figure.

No, I don't think they were officially cancelled. If anyone knows better please correct me, but I don't think they were ever officially confirmed as existing at all. I'm basing my belief on the fact that we got Arcee and Grotesque each with a die-cast Titan Master along with the clone two-pack all of which appear to be box set refugees.

 

Given that the other 2 Clones have been released in this Walgreens pack (when they could easily have been released during PotP, since they still work with the Legends-scale gimmick for that line), and that the Arcee and Grotusque packs had the Intelligence and Firepower symbols on them, respectively (the symbols the remaining two boxsets would have had), I think it's pretty safe to assume that the other boxsets aren't happening.

Hasbro probably just found ways to do a limited release of any boxset figures that featured new molding, to recoup some of the design costs. All the other planned figures for the boxsets were probably straight repaints.

 

Two more big box sets were never officially confirmed, but it is a logical conclusion to draw.

Each of the big box sets had an associated tech spec stat, we got two of four

Each big box set had a diecast titanmaster, clone, deluxe, voyager and leader (one of which combines with another leader figure)

We ended up getting all four diecast titanmasters, all four clones and two deluxe exclusives. The two diecast titanmasters that were packed with deluxes have the remaining two tech spec attributes associated with them, logically making them and their deluxe packins part of the “cancelled” boxsets. Likewise it’s also logical to assume godbomber would have been one of the leaders because otherwise why release the Ginrai mold.

 

Logical speculation. But not exactly a smoking gun.

Exactly. Personally I hope hasbro keeps putting out boxsets like these, maybe keep it to one or two a year, but they really felt like mass release botcon type sets along with the last 3 cw boxsets

 

I'm a little skeptical of the speculation regarding the cancellation of the missing boxsets.

A ton of planning goes into these things. I work in an industry where the packaging components alone for mass produced products take months of design and then actual printing.

I find it hard to believe that in a matter of only 3-6 months Hasbro was able to reverse course on the remaining box sets, scrap the originally planned packaging components, design all new packaging components, wait for the new packaging components to be printed and delivered, and marketed the new formats to the different outlets that they were being sold at in such a short period of time. The Logistics just don't fit at all.

Going back to the Packaging components, the inside of the boxes for Arcee and Grotusque were far too elaborate for something that needed to be thrown together at relatively the last minute (or so the speculation says)

See I think the sequence of events goes further back, lines are planned out roughly a year in advance so the way I see it is this

Cw g2 boxsets come out

Cw liokaiser, victorion and computron come out, hasbro sees cw g2 sets selling at clearance prices

Tr first two boxsets are already in production so hasbro decides to course correct on the second 2 not realizing it was only the g2 sets that didn’t really sell well
