Well, that is certainly weird but amusing. Definitely more surreal seeing the final product. I don't really care for it but... I guess there's an audience...? Nothing against the guys but I've never watched their show and I'm not Japanese nor do I live in Japan so I have no attachment to them nor their show at all.

The price is probably just that high because of how limited this will be, I assume.

these are pretty out there.....In price and appearance. Anything you could imagine is being made nowadays.

 

I was hoping for crossovers like Gurren Lagann, Gundam, even DBZ like a leader class Sky Shadow in King Cold colors for example or CW voyager Cyclonus in Perfect Cell colors (can't be any weirder then the Street Fighter repaints). But instead we get... this???

 

As someone who usually voices concern over PC issues, abd especially about Japanese related ones, I can\'t find any issue regarding the way these comedians have been stylised abd rendered.  They have been done so, not on the grounds of their race or ethnicity, but rather than by their individual charcteristics.  Context is key here.  It\'s the same if a white, non-Italian/Jewish person was charactured as a pale, long-nosed way, providing that they were seen that way IRL.

However, if a Japanese rendering of Japanese people in general could be seen as racist/ethnocentric, regardless of how \"accepted\" it was in Japan (which is debatable, due to how vocal certain social groups are in public, etc), then I think there would be more scope for debate.

What IS disgusting, however, is the price for what look like poorly rendered versions of the charactures, plus, IMO, the waste of a lovely original figure and fairly nice paint scheme (sans the poorly tampoed logo on the chest/speaker).

 

Just way too goofy for my taste. The bot mode may have some potential with a Takara Goshooter headmaster. Love the colors on it, but those heads just wouldn't fit anywhere in my collection.

 

Why can't you guys appreciate this for being a Gaki no Tsukai Transformers crossover rather than looking into all sorts of tumblrina cultural appropriation? I mean this is clearly a move made by Gaki no Tsukai and TakaraTomy themselves, not some american guy. Why not just buy it if you like GnT and skip it if you don't want it?

I don't think that makes it ok. But we seem to live in a world where the meaning of words and images can get completely twisted around so that they come to mean the opposite of what they originally did.

 

If you would have told me five years ago that the guys who did "24 Hour Tag" and "Pie Hell" were going to be released as headmasters I'd probably not have believed you.

These are really no different than the Bob Hope caricature I posted earlier. You said that gets a pass becaise it was made by him and used for comedy....THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THIS TOY IS! I know you can't get past what you see as a racist stereotype in the faces. But again, this toy is not meant for you. It's for Japanese kids who think caracitures are funny and are not informed on what was offensive 80 years ago.

 

I hope this image is clear to all and the headmasters are based on their attire in the show.
