This was going to be THE Optimus of my CHUG collection, but a closer look (at his back, for instance) has reduced him to 'just' another, albeit respectable, member of the Prime family.

Nemesis Prime, Shattered Glass Optimus, I'd go for both of those.

The extra grey's a bit off-putting, but hopefully Takara will give us better colours. Hasbro seems really fond of grey plastic in their figures, whitish grey, brownish-grey, grey........ Tampos in place if stickers will be nice, too.

It is disappointing that more can't be done with the trailer sections of the Primes. I was hoping there was an extra yet to be revealed gimmick for them.

Now, would they also throw in a bit of remolding (I'm hoping they'll do that with Leader Rodimus's chest) to add a bit more G1 accuracy like they've done with earlier Leaders?

Well, I'd like a Leader Galvatron, but I'd also like a Beast Wars Leader dragon Megatron. This line is perfect for those. The question is if Hasbro is still willing to release two Leader 'Trons in the same line.

I live in Japan. Obviously, it's far more now, but at the time, it was cheaper than any third party versions.

For what this does on the whole, this is a tremendous toy. That sticker error is atrocious. Can't wait to grab him. I don't have a loose good enough Optimus for my CHUG collection. The Orion Pax came out great, IMO.

I actually prefer this combined mode over Mp10's bot mode. The proportions look absolutely fantastic and the gray panels don't bother me that much. Especially with how they curve around the limbs, I can almost believe its just extra armor. Only bother in combined mode is the legs on his back, but if the weight doesn't affect his stability too much (and it probably won't since those Orion legs are so hollow), then I'm perfectly fine with it. He has some pretty decent articulation too.

Orion Pax himself and the vehicle mode on the other hand, dont look very good at all to me. Orion looks sorta kibbly and fiddly, and the hollow legs (while helpful in combined mode) are kinda annoying looking. Truck looks okay from the front and the trailer looks okay from the side, but thats about it.

Upside down sticker is a bummer for the owner but I'm sure it won't be a widespread issue. The other side is fine.

"Actually" like it? I think the gray is fantastic. I think it's the best gray Hasbro has used in quite a while.

edit: Unless you mean the placement of gray panels on the robot mode. I can see why some might not like that, although it doesn't bother me at all.

Yeah, this figure wouldn't make any sense as a Ginrai. I mean, I get how someone might have the idea based on the smaller figure becoming part of a larger figure, but the proportions of the combined mode are completely wrong for a Super Ginrai. At most, the combined mode looks like a regular Ginrai, which would make no sense. The Super/God Ginrai we just got is fantastic and needs no replacement. If someone absolutely needs a separate regular Ginrai to combine with the trailer for Super Ginrai, a solution for that already exists.

Well obviously not the next few wave, but I see it being done near the end of the line on the Takara side. Besides, any form of Optimuses(Optimi?) are easy sellers.

The sticker error is unfortunate but I doubt I'll have him in that mode anyway. The bot mode looks good but it would've been nice if they had included a roller as part of the combination.

But that's me. Optimus will stay in robot mode more often then not. Looking forward to Jan.

I can think of the Orion legs on the back as some sort of jet-pack. The exposed Orion hands on the other hand don't look too good.

I suppose someone could come up with a couple of flat red panels with pegs to slot into the hands and cover the exposed sections of Optimus's back.

As for the grey panels in robot mode, I would like them to be painted red and blue where appropriate. I can understand the grey sections being necessary for trailer mode, but they should at least paint the inner sections since there is no base mode.

Or, they could use more red and blue plastic for the trailer mode and paint it grey on the outside. That might actually be easier.

I mean the placement. Noticed that some people did not like it. I personally don't mind.

I'm in Kyoto a couple months a year for work, and I generally see new releases pretty close to list price. Totally admit I don't know what the good spots to shop are though. It's like, chain stores and taking the train to Den Den town for me.

He looks good to me, his head is even better than mp10's. I probably wouldnt mind painting some of the panels blue or red and splash some yellow on his forearms, but then again i might just wait for takara. Im very excited to find this guy.

Preorder at Amazon Japan. It's the ONLY way I can get most releases guaranteed and at a reasonable price. Failing that, I preorder from Ami-Ami, Toys R Us Japan or HLJ. Sometimes, a friend can get them at wholesale cost from Japanese or Chinese suppliers for me. I rarely rely upon regular shops in Japan for Transformers, due to higher costs and a lack of availability.

Whatever this figure's short comings, I'll get this one but not ASAP.
I'll get the Dinobots first then Both of the Primes later on.

I really don't like the truck mode's fake smokestacks.
Hasbro didn't even bother to add a piece of plastics to make a "extendable" shaft on that area.
