Yes. After buying (5) of the 1st run determined to get the best paint apps, which I did on the 5th try but wanted better, the 2nd run was worse. I want to say it was a short straw I got a bad one but the 2nd or 3rd reissue of MP Prime had similar issues.

Without having the newest in hand and so far with these latest pics, I think this run looks 10 times better than the previous outside of the color differences of course. If you don't care and its just the price making your decision, than go with the 2nd run.

 

He looks awesome, but I'm okay with my MP-12.

Probably should've added that the last time I pre-ordered something from BBTS, it had issues and I couldn't get a replacement because of something like they reserved a lot of pre-ordered toys, they couldn't spare one for a replacement or something like that.

But if MP-12+ looks like the be-all, end-all take on MP-12...

So.... is the face matte-colored after all? I can’t quite tell from these photos. I had cancelled my pre-order after the last round of pics looked it had a metallic silver face, but I might be back in for this if the face is matte grey.

If that is true it very sad people say they can’t afford statue but this could have buy buying five masterpiece figures and returning them they are toys not statues if paint looks bad it shouldn’t be that big of deal made it sound like you look at it every day to admire it at all angles keep it truck form toys will have some imperfections statues not so much you get almost what you paid for with almost no imperfections on it ninetie nine percent of time toys are meant to played with if toy transforms expect some paint to rub off if pieces hit each other there child play thing not statues to be left on shelf to collect dust and look at never to be seen again,.

Agreed that buying and returning 5 figures is super excessive for slight paint imperfections. It is unfair to the retailer and the customers who end up with your returned merchandise

 

No comparison shots with the original MP12? Interesting that they totally redid the back of the box- did they do the same for red alert +?

It makes me want to attack one to the knock offs and take a Chrome pen to the arms legs & such like.
I like the blue windows though.Seems to be a heck of a lot of gapping in the side - that might just be an adjustment issue though perhaps.

That's what it's all about. It's been like that since the 2nd Hasbro Asia run, they must've trimmed those tabs on the side of the face that slot into the helmet. When that 2nd run came out everyone said he had a different face, it was actually just the position of the face.

The face in this colour and with that change look great. Miles better than that first silver run. Totally get people not upgrading to this guy, I sold my original MP-12 over a year ago so I'm well prepared to have him back in my collection. Made a profit, too.

 

I especially like the interesting shadows his helmet casts on his face, gives his features even more definition





Something which works well on Sideswipe's face, but wasn't a great effect on Bumblebee's face as it washed out the true angles of his face. Bumblebee would benefit from a more pearlescent face like Ironhide - who knows maybe the reissue of MP-21 next year will have a slightly different paint on the face, same as the Ultra Magnus reissue (as @Dean ML pointed out). That would be a very nice change.
