So we had a question about Human/Transformer romance, and Vangelus didn't go into Alexis/Armada Starscream? Or Kissplayers?

 

On the topic of VA\'s to take over the role of Prime, I\'m a pretty big fan of Clancy Brown. He was Silas in Prime and I think he\'s got a god voice for Prime\'s character.

Not sure if you know about this. Since you like the Beast Box toys, Disney/Pixar has a line of toys called "Hatchin' Heroes" in which the characters transform into eggs.

If I were given command of a Transformers series, and I could write characters and cast them any way I want, I'd get Peter Weller as Prime. I would want to have a more war-weary Prime who has to rediscover his conviction, and I think Weller could do that wonderfully while also still evoking a classic Optimus Prime quality.

 

I think Idris Elba could do a great Movie Optimus Prime.

 

Well, I'll miss some of the discussions the Picture Pic section prompted. Sometimes some fun awkward moments resulted. Still I understand the change.

Also, surprised Vangelus didn't mention a certain Keanu Reeves figure he's mentioned on Twitter.

 

Regarding VA talent, wouldn’t Kevin Conroy have a good take on Optimus Prime. It wouldn’t have to be to far from his Batman voice...maybe a register lower.

 

I personally believe that Darin De Paul would be an awesome Optimus Prime. He did a great job as Dr Samuel Hayden in Doom 2016!

 

Re: Big Man Japan, I was in Japan for a mates wedding when that was released, and he watched it translating it as I was watching. Loved it! Then bought it on DVD to watch it subbed as soon as it came out. I'd just got my first credit card to go to Japan and had already made a first purchase for a SoC at HLJ...

Anyway a good alternative to Peter Cullen would be James Earl Jones! Or what about Stan Lee!!!

Totally, WTF!!! I do believe SoC Godmars was the first online purchase I ever made. I was prepping a credit card to go overseas and this had come out and I thought I'd get it for my brother as he had this old Godmars toy I always loved.


Just looked through my emails and only started cataloging purchases for myself beginning with SoC Daimos (GX-43) in October, Godmars (GX-40) was in March.


I don't think you want to know what I did in Japan, lol...

 

Ever since I saw Deep Space Nine I've thought that Avery Brooks would make for a pretty good Optimus Prime.

 

I was going to suggest Matt Mercer, but I would totally second this. Darin De Paul is delightful.

My own thoughts on some of the listener questions:

Minor characters that I love from my childhood: Afterburner and Chase.

Non-existent toy I want desperately: a nicely articulated Mortal Kombat X Mileena. I love that character design so damn much.

Crotch-face I cannot unsee: G1 Chromedome (at least when stickered).

 

I really liked the listener question about minor characters.
My favorite was Bugly. I still have my G1 version. My Grandmother gave him to me on my birthday one year and I used to "scare" her with the pretender shell all the time. She passed away a few years ago, but every time I look at the figure, I think of her and smile.

As for a non-existing figure, I would really like a Marvel Legends Stilt Man. I made a custom of him, but I would love an official figure.

I don't comment about Transformer romance any more. I got harassed off Tumblr because I said something about it once.

 

While its unlikely, I really hope Bandai does Ukyo Kuonji (Ukyo Kuonji). SHe was one of my favorite characters from the series and has a giant spatula as a weapon.

Maybe I just didn’t listen to the episode where that became a thing I dunno.
