Well you should be extremely happy Whedon came in the 11th hour ‘cause all Snyder is capable of doing is choreographing fight scenes.

Even effects heavy Star Wars the Force Awakens had an estimated budget of $245 million. Makes you wonder how Justice League could have such bad effects when they spent more than Star Wars. $300 million should have been the most amazing effects anyone had ever seen in their life.

150 Million went to settling Affleck “groping” lawsuits. Fatman can’t keep his hands to himself.

They probably spent close to that much re-shooting half the movie though.

    Yes.
In the flashback to Steppenwolf's first attack on Earth, we see him make the hellish omega symbol thing on the ground. Diana explains that Steppenwolf seeks to turn all planets into that same hellscape.

Imagine telling someone 5 years ago that a GOTG movie would outgross the JL movie

I can't believe I actually liked this movie. I mean, it's still not great but if you're a big DC fan and you know about all the New God lore stuff, it sorta works. I'd say wait to stream it on Netflix though. Besides the "Snyder at 100%" parts, it felt like watching a live action episode of the 90s Justice League cartoon. If they stick to the Whedon style of cheese, I'm actually looking forward to what they do next.

I liked it quite a bit. Then again, I already knew who Steppenwolf was and what he was trying to accomplish. My wife, who can basically distinguish between Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman (but doesn't have any idea who Cyborg is, or a Parademon), didn't have that backstory to fill in the blanks; she thought is was just OK. Someone else said it's on par with Age of Ultron. I'd agree with that assessment. It does suffer from being stitched together, though. I'm hoping for a much expanded edition on home video. And maybe spend a little more time cleaning up the Super 'Stache - it got distracting.

How the hell do you go into a film with extremely low expectations and still come out somewhat disappointed? Because that’s the mood right now.

Anywho, the post credits scene with Slade and Lex was the only exciting thing. Aside from just seeing how fantastic Joe looks as Slade, the foreshadowing of a potential Legion of Doom or Injustice League formation filled me with indescribable joy.

Diana and Steppenwolf (deffo a weak ass villain) were pretty cool. Their fight scenes were the only interesting action sequences, lol. Far too much slow-mo used to show the Flash’s speed. It truly got obnoxious as the film progressed. The references to the New Gods and the Darkseid namedrop made me giddy, but not much else. Expected to hear more; when Steppenwolf was speaking to Hippolyta, I was waiting for a Granny Goodness line.

Everything else was... [prolonged groan]. Arthur and Barry were extremely out of character, as the trailers hinted at. Arthur’s characterization infuriates me the most given how he’s my favorite superhero and this was his live action debut. What a shitty one it was. I knew they were gonna make him into this weird ass loner, surfer dude. Ugh. Vic was boring and his design still looked like a malnourished Bayformer that would break apart at the tiniest bit of physical contact. Bruce felt... weird. He had a lot of cool, comic book-y shots but we’re still in that annoying Frank Miller stage, though not as much as we were with BvS. Supes, even though way more hopeful and recognizable as Supes, was still cringey as hell when he was revived with that “Do you bleed,” line. Not complaining about them shirtless scenes though...

It was just a boring, clunky mess. Even as a massive DC fan, I couldn’t find much joy in it. You could feel Whedon’s touches and I groaned every single time (were the numerous ass shots of Diana and Barry landing on her breasts really necessary?). At this point, my hopes for the DCEU to fail are even higher.

    Respectfully, total disagreement.

There was nothing New Gods about Steppenwolf, his motivations, or the Mother Boxes. It was a crappy transplant of a Sauron expy, where they find and changed the One Ring into the Mother Boxes, took away his mace for an Axe and changed Orcs to Parademons.

The Justice League should have been an easy billion dollar movie. Heads are going to roll at WB.

Oh yeah, totally. I meant you'll understand what Stepphenwolf was talking about, because if you don't know about the New God stuff, half the lines he says is the equivalent of "This guy you don't know is mad at me so I gotta terraform earth so I can be a thing that you don't know and that we didn't explain".

JL is going up against Thor. No way JL was going to make any money.

WB should have rescheduled JL’s release.

If it was done right JL should have crushed Thor.

Saw it today and really liked it. Non having Hal was a bummer throughout out, but overall it was really fucking enjoyable.

Girlfriend also loved it and she knows just about the new gods stuff. It was all pretty self-explanatory within the movie.

Also they made the right move not showing aquaman, flash, and cyborg in their own movies before a justice league movie.
