Hey Ju, y'know I see eye to eye with you on most things moviewise, but I think you might be being a bit aggressive here ;)

I know i'm no saint around here, but change your angle a bit and you can have an interesting debate with Galvatross on your opposing views of the movies, instead of the flailing arguments you two get into recently!

There are other people (on this thread indeed) that need it stuck to them and then ignored, but Gal's no really one of them, even if he does keep making shreck puns!

About the video, if the guy is taking shots at TLK then I'm sure he's right, I mean it's shooting very big fish a very small barrel, but the guy is pretty annoying and I couldn't listen to him for more than a few seconds! :lol  (it not you is it?)

I just watched this video and it lead me to watch his other Transformers ones. I loved these movies, except this last one, but he's spot on with his reviews. His voice is high, but so what?

OP has a weird obsession with hating the movies, though, even if his post led me to discover a new youtuber to subscribe to.

The only thing it proves that you can't take criticism. Not even by a youtube critic.

No, I'm pretty sure all he did was offer a third party's criticism. He did warn for those who might be offended by the criticism. I like the movies, but I won't ignore they are losing interest in the public eye. Not agreeing with all of the criticism of the movie. I'm only defending the right to criticism however way they want to without being censored because it's their words.

I admit I have fears of letting this version die as I have personal attachment to these movies for personal reasons.

I can't agree with that. For instance, in his AoE review he complains about how long the Transformers have been coming to Earth after the movie's opening scene. He fails to mention that the ships coming to Earth are not those of Transformers but an earlier alien race that created the Transformers.

Now if he doesn't like that aliens came to Earth 66 million years for reasons then that his definitely his freedom, but his comments suggest he wasn't paying much attention. I can definitely understand not getting everything that goes on in the films, and I can understand some fans not wanting an ancient extinction event caused by aliens, but it's pretty freaking obvious in the film that Transformers were not the ones who came to Earth millions of years ago. If more ancient Primes or Autobots or Decepticons were on End-Cretaceous Planet Earth, or Megatron himself was the one killing dinosaurs then yes, his statements would be correct. As is they aren't. And frankly, I would have a problem if there were Autobots and Decepticons on Earth 66 million years ago.

He also complains about Transformers not getting enough screen time in one part of his video and then complains about too many scenes with robots in another. Which is it? It can't be both. At least most fans who want more Transformers screen time are consistent in their desire for more, just like there are some members of the general public I have encountered who genuinely like human focus. If Ralph prefers one or the other that his fine, but he needs to stick to one opinion or the other. Pick an opinion and support it.

At least many of the fans who criticize or praise the films have their reasons and are consistent in what they think and want. There is nothing wrong with having an opinion either way about the movies, but I'd rather people at least 1) be consistent and 2) actually say what happens in the movies; don't state wrong information if you're going through the effort of making a Youtube video.

There are other Youtube personalities that review Transformers toys and fiction and have different opinions about some of the movies than I do, but I don't have any problem with them because at least they were consistent and actually stated things correctly. Even if I do have almost complete opposite opinions. I state my reasons for my opinions, and they state their reasons for their opinions. Neither one of is "wrong" and neither one of us is "right." I just agree to disagree with them.

Like I have said, I have my share of issues with The Last Knight. I think Onslaught should have been named Shrekage because he was a green, mean, cannon fodder machine. I think Prime's creator should have been Lord Farquaad, a shape-shifting Quintesson disguised as a diminutive human lord who created the Cybertronian Knights to rescue princesses from alien monsters and fortresses to add to his diverse harem. That's where Dragonstorm would meet Prime, on a castle on an alien world.

Thank you very much. You are very helpful indeed!

    1. I think that because my opinion is severely critical of the direction that the franchise has taken as a whole in the last 10-15 years (besides exceptions) and the people that it tries to appeal to, however much I try to sugar coat my words, people will almost inevitably come at me from every angle. It doesn't mean that everyone who enjoys dumb movies is dumb. I am criticizing the movies for deliberately aiming to appeal to the dumb. Because "dumb", to them, means "critic-proof". Which means they can get away with anything they want, because their target audience doesn't believe in criticism and conversation. Evidently, both notions, frequently, are replaced with the word "hating". Which, instantly devalues anything you have to say, before you say it. I'd be glad if people's enjoyment of these movies didn't come at the cost of movies that I'd like to see, movies that would respect the source material, the audience's intelligence and my decades of support as a fan. I don't want to deprive anyone of their enjoyment. But, why should that come at the cost of mine? It's Hasbro I'm blaming for that. And I wish we would all be critical of them. We should hold a corporation accountable for the quality of product they sell us, instead of being happy that "welp, at least they dropped an easter egg for the longtime fans!".

    2. I have. It was for responding sarcastically, using the word "dummy" and reminding someone who outright insulted me, the importance of questionmarks when you write something meant as a question. I've seen the rules bent for unbelievably more vulgar behaviour here, but as long as it's framed as "positive" (i.e., not critical), it's ok.

    3. Oooooook? What do you think might be happening behind the screen? :p

This is by far one of the most toxic communities I've ever been a part of, sadly. Regardless of the occassional really friendly and civil people. I notice that most reasonable people are mostly silent. I gather that is because criticism is met with hostility and most front page posts are suffocating by the same (Hasbro supporting) people. I wouldn't say that audiences want "dumb" movies, but I do believe that audiences want escapism. Not to be burdened by heavy thoughts, additional to whatever else might trouble them. And that's why a movie needs to not be dumb, but smart enough to be simple and layered. That's what Marvel does, for example. And what Transformers could excel at. Not just another commercial. Not another deeply cynical thing. The world is full of that. I have my troubles like any other human being. I have a couple of stuff that makes me feel good, a couple of hobbies. Don't let them whore them out too. :(

You might want to rewatch that, because he does mention that they are the creators that come to earth and not the Transformers once they show the organic hand. As far as the Transformers screen time, he seems to have a similar opinion to my own, which is that there is not enough Transformers screentime that actually matters and when they do give them more, (like in AOE) its complete garbage. There is no substance to half of their interactions. In the first movie, their interactions felt more natural and actually made sense. In AOE, they had cringeworthy lines and they didn't really ever say anything that had any substance.

I don't passionately defend the movies as much as I used to because I've grown to see their flaws, so I enjoy his reviews.
