But how, though? You said it yourself that CW was repaint after repaint after repaint. And remold after remold after remold. CW was arguably the worst toyline that I had ever experienced since getting into Transformers a decade ago. Titans Return, with the exception of a few figures, has largely been full of original molds and Power of the Primes seems to be a pretty solid line. Heck, the leader class Prime and Hot Rod figures basically look like the poor men’s versions of the Masterpiece figures. Everything about POTP looks pretty solid. The Generations lines actually seem to be improving. However, I do realize it is all a matter of opinion.

Wiffleball? No one in the park I lives uses wiffle balls.
Paper Airplane. Sure. It teaches engineering and aerodynamics.
Clue. Sure. It increases deductive reasoning skills that society seem to lack these days.
Transformers. You know how much engineering it takes to cram a robot into a car, plane or boombox?! C'mon man!! It's Genius.

I still remember the time when TFTM 2007 LC OP became "Toy of the Year".
    Was it from ToyFare?

Eh, some shitty hall of fame thing isn't going to stop TF's being popular and loved since like forever.

It feels weird sand got the nod. Sandbox is one thing, that's an intentional thing made to be amusing. But I think they are using "toy" as "thing young people derived entertainment from" which is fair.

I'm still gonna be hella sad if TF loses to mud.

In other news: man-children up in arms about hobby not being included in national list of toys.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to get back to clicking 'refresh' on the Fans Toys vs Gigapower argument thread in the 3rd Party board.

The PotP leaders are a mess. The backpack on rodimus is atrocious, the kibble behind the cab of Optimus and the fake cab roof on the front of the trailer is a hot mess, and primal transforms into a surf board. Yikes.

But back to my point, I was specifically referring to the plastic quality, foil stickers, and lack of paint that are getting worse with each line.

As far as remolds, yup CW was bad. They had few molds reused many times. As I said though, it desensitized us. Very few molds in TR were only used once. The vast majority of them were used 2-3 times. If CW hadn't been as bad as it was, people would have made more of a stink over TR. Again, desensitized.

If sand is a toy, then so are dirt, rocks, and anything else found in the natural world.

As much as I love the movies even I can't deny that they've made Transformers nothing more then a joke, thats my reasoning for lose; the films were the first thing that came to voters minds when they saw Transformers on the list. I mean come on the amount of engineering in Transformers? Transformers are some of the most creative toys on the market (and in fiction!).

Is that - I - FORREAL?! Is it really up to me to deliver the requisite "WTF?!"

    *ahem*

    WTF?!

(Posted as someone who very much sees a similarity between [at least the subjective aspect of] playing with one's lover or with Transformers, and also very much sees the differences + would never say anything like that!)

All my life I figured time machines would send people from the future back to the past, but it seems somehow a man from the 1950's has landed in the future that doesn't appreciate his type anymore.

As dumb as it sounds, as an art teacher, I have kids making paper airplanes in a variety of different forms everyday, so, while odd, I can believe it.

Paper airplanes, eh? I wonder when the cardboard box or bedding will get it (making forts and such).

    Word.
I don’t mind the movie line. Mostly a CHUG guy myself.
That said, things quit being ‘pretty good’ just before CW. CW was good- not great but good; repetitive tho with a bunch of main characters made into combiners that were comprised by the gimmick for no apparent reason.

The TR line is fantastic if you are into wobbly heads, floppy limbs and and those characters that, at long last, have finally been made... but are compromised again by a gimmick that doesn’t give you a choice but to transform them by removing their heads- making non-HM characters into HM’s and then not making certain HM’s at all.

So what do we get to look forward to in PotP? Deluxe sized Dinobots that may or may not be compromised by an unnecessary combiner gimmick, a Grimlock that is definitely compromised by the same unnecessary gimmick and so far the only thing worse than the leader Optimus is the Leader Rodimus Mech suit that has Hot Rods arms hanging out.
