The divisive but accomplished Transformers: Robots in Disguise cartoon has come to an end. For some of us it was an enjoyable ride, for others it wasn't quite what we wanted.

I personally loved this show. TFP for all it's flaws was something I found a lot of enjoyment in, but RID just hit a better chord for me somehow. I wasn't expecting to get as hooked as I did, even though I committed to watching it through just for the sake of it being Transformers.

I think it was like episode 21 or 22 of Season 1 where I was in the middle of watching an episode and I just sort of paused in a brief moment of realization and thought, "Shit I really love the Bee Team."

Cause shit, I really love the Bee Team. Their dynamic and the way they grew together in a very big but also subtle way was a story I really loved watching unfold. I also really enjoyed the rogues gallery/"Aqua Teen" approach to the Decepticons because I felt like it served the development of the Bee Team in two ways. First, the shift of focus from Con to Con, even with the series-long Steeljaw taking long periods of time out for the Bee Team to deal with other threats large and small, really drives home the idea that Bumblebee and his rag tag crew have a lot to deal with. The dozens and dozens of unique Decepticons plus several distinct organizations that make bids against our Autobots makes their job as essentially Autobot Marshall Officers and the challenges they face have a much grander scale. Secondly this places an even greater amount of focus on the Bee Team and their story. Because this show is all about the Bee Team taking on villain after villain and literally going to the Moon and back to fight the good fight for the people of Cybertron and Earth.

This show featured vibrant and dynamic animation that ripened over time. An all star and dedicated cast of voice actors.

Not always perfect writing but a story that's ultimately centered with an expected depth and heart.

RID takes a chance with a whole new series dynamic. It features the best version of Bumblebee to date. It took chances with far out designs and a bold reinterpretation of classic characters (Grimlock, Scorponok, Sideswipe, Cyclonus) Some the best combiner fiction to date. Steeljaw steals the show before you realize it's his. Other Decepticon heavy hitters like Springload, Quillfire, Underbite, Fracture, Clampdown, Starscream, Thunderhoof, Soundwave, Menasor, Megatronus, Bisk, Chop Shop, The Scavengers, are all solid fun but Steeljaw is the biggest check on the list that would make me recommend this show. I love that the series ends with him still at large.

    Overall 8.5/10 would watch again.

All in all I think it was a pretty decent show. I never even thought of comparing it to TFP as the later will definitely forever remain the best TF show for me. RID took another path with storytelling and animation style and was good while it lasted. I'm giving it a B+. Looking forward to Cyberverse now!

It did suffer abit from the same issue I did have with TF-Prime... both are very formuleic shows, in one we had the Autobots chasing artifacts and in the other we have them going after escaped prisoners. With more interesting characters and storyarcs often rushed in the one or two episodes where the overall plot was moved forward. And I get that it's a formula that makes it easy for the younger viewers to see a show, but I really wish some of the cool and interesting ideas both Prime and RiD had going could have been expanded upon better.

As for RiD itself... I did like the main cast quite abit, they were both familiar yet different enough, the human characters were not intrusive, and some of the new Decepticons were actually pretty intriguing too. My only really big gripe was Grimlock... I liked him quite abit, but he has sooo nothing to do with any other version of the character, that I really wish they just made him a new Dinobot, since it is what he is anyway, except than in name. And the fact they never enstablished why he was a prisoner other than "he smashed some stuff he shouldn't have" annoys me quite abit.

It's also unfortunate we didn't get a final TV movie to end on a high note, since we're at the end of not just this particular series, but of all the timeline it takes place into. Well... unless Cyberverse revisits it later on, tho I'm not holding my breath on that.

    Yeah...

I was bored, turned on the TV a Saturday morning, and saw the desert Pseudo episode. Also,I wasn't feeling well and saw the Skunkticons episode.

I agree with all of that except the best version of Bumblebee.IMHO,Bumblebee is better in TFP.

    Ugh,now I want a modern G1 after reading this...

    We will remember you RID201x.

    We will remember.

It was fun, and a lot like the original RID to me. We got some great new characters with cool designs (skybyte, railracer, the pack) and the show as a whole didn't have a ton of consequences following a more heavy hitting show (Beast Machines, Prime). I did very much appreciate that they stuck to team Bee for the show, nice to see what leadership outside of Optimus looks like.

The finale was WAY too rushed, should have been at least a three-episode arc.

Does anyone know if there will be a tv movie just like with Predacons Rising?

Well, I will always say that TFP had the better animation style, better stories I enjoyed the humans more in TFP (I am so going to be yelled at for that I know, my opinion though).

I think Bee's show deserved a little more then it got, I do understand what Hasbro was attempting to do though. Some of the stories just didn't grab you as a viewer though. I will miss it though. I wonder what's next for Transformers though.

P.s I am still dissappointed no humans from TFP showed up.

I loved season 1. The series had some really strong potential to be one of the best TF series. Unfortunately it all went downhill from there starting with season 2 with re-hashed character designs unlike season 1 which had designs that challenged the creativity of even those from ROTF, repetative and uninspired character arcs that never really went anywhere, and rushed/underplayed story arcs, villains, and threats-- ESPECIALLY that of council. Though the council's influence was felt at times through out the series, it still ended up feeling like an after-thought in the end. A pity, too. The council arc had potential to be one of the most thought provoking ideas of any TF show (had it been explored more and not involved mind control).

I've got the impression that some of the people working on it were a bit disappointed about how things went down. It may have been another situation where more was planned and then they found themselves having to put an end to things because the higher ups had different plans . We saw something similar with Animated, but I think they ended that series on a high note (IMO).

I haven't watched the last few seasons of RID, myself, but going by some of the things people here have mentioned, there may have been more intended for the story ('Megatron will return.' - Decepticon wishful thinking, or a hint at an IDW-style arc for RID Bumblebee and his new best frenemy?).

It didn't meet my expectations. Although this show did make me like Aligned Bumblebee a lot more than I previously did. I hated Prime Bee, but found RID Bee to be tolerable and even likable.

Probably because we wasn't just "kid friendly character" that was muted.

    Anyways, my thoughts:
    1) Don't hate the show but not what I hoping for. Would have preferred if they used some of the ideas from Prime that didn't make it into the show (ie: Cyborg Fowler, Star Seekers, redefined/revamped Maximals and Predacons, etc).
    2) Did we seriously need Strongarm and Sideswipe to keep butting heads and learn to work together every other episode? I can get character growth but every time it happened it was the same lesson: Stop being clods and work together.
    3) The council should have played a bigger (and better) role than what we got. Animated got it right with Longarm/Shockwave, a friendly face with a deadly agenda we see slowly unmasked. Dont spring a plot twist last minute with a new party/faction.
    4) Combiner Force was pointless. I like the new characters for the Cons but more than half of the toys weren't in the show, then again where were the Predacons in Beast Hunters?

I agree with all points, and the council may yet play a bigger role in the last epidose I hope it's at least over an hour in length.
