I'm sure the new club is going to consist of more "surprise!" exclusives on HTS which will be made available for pre-order a few months later through TRU...
Man I sure do miss the days of F5ing the club store and making sure I got my stuff before it sold out. Or hell, even subscription service. Subscription service was the way to go.

Frankly, if this were so (and it truly appears that this was the intention at some point), I don't know why Hasbro hasn't gone ahead and said "This is what the club is now."

But for whatever reason, they haven't said that. They've said, in fact, that they (currently, and since TR Arcee, which seems to have been so intended) have no plans.

Well... There's always eHobby I suppose.
I'm hoping we get more word after the first of the year from Hasbro though. I mean I thought I read they were working on a new "fan club" from that press release they put out a year ago.

Yeah, I just figured that was BS. If we do even get a club from Hasbro, I figured it will be along the lines of the last lame "club" they had, where you send in some money and you get a crappy newsletter/welcome letter, and (maybe) some cheap repaint of a current figure. Seeing Arcee and Grotusque that were potentially going to be club offerings would've given me some hope, but they've appeared to cancel those plans as well.

I think I would be fine if the "cheap repaints" were along the lines of Arcee and Grotusque. The boxes are nice. Not FunPub or 3H nice, but they're neat...
But yeah. Honestly even the Overkill/Dragstrip from way back were pretty cool too. Overkill more so. But you're right. Probably more corporate hot air.

So this date is interesting. I heard from friends that Hasbro really went all out to celebrate the 35th anniversary of ARAH GI Joe this year at Hascon. Voice actors, toy designers and many former GI Joe brand Hasbro employees showed up. Some of these folks had not been to a convention in many years. It looked like a really awesome celebration of the GI Joe brand.

2019 will be the 35th anniversary of G1 Transformers. So we may see some really cool Transformers stuff at Hascon 2019. I'm going to try and make it.

No, those two were actually the opposite of what I meant by "cheap repaints." Those two gave me hope that any potential fan club might not be completely sucky.
Someone told you wrong. Hasbro didn't even have an official presence at JoeCon this year. Anything that was there was done by FunPub, but those are the same types of people FunPub has always been bringing to their Cons. One of the guests was actually brought/sponsored by one of the vendors.
So no, Hasbro didn't go "all out" to celebrate ARAH 35th at all - just the opposite. The only thing they DID do was the recreation/re-release of the Cobra Missile Command Headquarters, and that was for SDCC, not JoeCon.

He said HasCon, not JoeCon. They had a whole thing going on there.

Totally correct. Man, I'm tired, I didn't even notice that, lol. And that is correct about at HasCon. They brought Derryl DePriest in specifically to fill out the incentives for the GI Joe VIP package, and he did a great job.
