I am just so tired of the stuff 3P companies are putting out these days. It feels like every time you get a convention or event like this and stuff is revealed, you always see the same things over and over again. An Optimus and/or Ultra Magnus A G1 combiner Insecticons and/or Dinobots Some Minibots An add-on kit for an Optimus and/or Ultra Magnus A Sixshot An Omega Supreme And another bloody Jetfire And ALL of them in the MP scale and style. Is Iron Factory the only 3P company not doing MP stuff these days? It's a good thing Hasbro's doing more of the stuff that I'm actually into, because the current 3P marketplace just isn't doing anything for me. And I get that that's kinda the point, the 3P guys are doing the kinds of things that Hasbro can't, and vice-versa, but could there be a little more variety on the 3P side?
Uh, what? (Is too lazy and/or respectfull too make a short movie of self looking left and right in a dumb way and post it here.)
?? Trying to make the point that I think the 3P companies are in the business of doing things hasbro can't/won't due to budget, etc. not the other way around. I'll give hasbro the nod for the lower cost compared to 3p, but even that is getting less and less justified due to quality on some figs going down. What's there not to get?
That's true. Hasbro is starting to give less and less for a higher and higher price. But there's a point in third party companies sometimes jumping on the same wagon too much, while they could do toys of characters that have no representation yet. G2 for example is still wide open So are a lot of Japanese characters and post 86 characters. Hasbro by comparison is steadily moving into that territory as far as chug is concerned. Takara on the other hand is still way behind on MP representation of characters and the new frankenstein-accurate design philosophy is becoming less and less atractive compared to third party offerings.
Man, I think the last MP (not counting Beastr Wars cause those are INSANELY AWESOME) I'll be picking up is Star Saber. Beyond IDW I don't have much of a connection to him but I like the overall design. Pretty much everything since Magnus has been a disappoint to me (totally looking forward to the couple of new 3p Ultra Magni we've seen). With the way Takara is going we'll probably see our first official MP Combiner in ten years, probably smooth and ugly too so he can be "toon accurate."
No offense but your assessment does nothing but make you seem very out of touch with how things actually are in the 3p scene. I follow it very very closely myself, obsessively you could say, to an unhealthy degree actually haha. I feel like people who don't do this at all and only have a more casual awareness are always the ones saying this kinda kneejerk-reaction stuff still. You seem to exclusively only notice half of the markets products pretty much and then say to yourself yep that's it, that's all 3ps do anymore. So here is a chunk of my collection, 90% of it 3p, most of it purchased over the last three years: 6 g1 3p mps in this pic. Only 6 and this is an old photo now and is closer to being only half my collection of 3ps these days. This year I bought three non-g1 mps (one galaxy force, two idw) and obtained all 3 last month back to back alone. Actually I've bought barely any g1 mps at all in 2017. Mini figures, tonnes of them. I own like a third? of iron factories collection alone. And their are SO many more to get. Every MMC Reform figure in this pic is not an mp and only 6 have ties to G1. And boy are we making so sooooo many more non g1 guys eventually. Hell what about the CD stuff from maketoys? Amazing toys. Striker Manus still the best "regular" Optimus I own. Cannot wait to have their legends-ish ginrai in december. Or how about some of mmc's newer reform releases? Helped design three of these myself. And man we have some awesome shit coming next year including a Thunderclash. Though I'm sure plenty of people are excited for our three robots based on Drifts origin story comic instead. One guy in this photo has never had a toy before and the other is a Galaxy Force character. I think we'll be seeing lots of unicron trilogy stuff over time as demand for it increases. Or the incredible Overwatch Bastion Dx9 put out this year? one of my top 10s this year. To be followed by their amazing adaptations of beast bot reinventions of random characters next year such as their primal and tiger hotrod: Which looks like a cross between a zoid and gaogaigar's main bot. Stunningly original interpretations they are to the point some barely even look like transformer characters. And DX9 is investing hard in to those, they have many of them planned and designed already. Or perhaps the incredible Gorira from PE we had early in the year to be followed by Dragon Megatron next year? Gorira being massive and amazing. I love him to death, really need his mini monkeys. And here are two of the aforementioned amazing non-G1 mps I got this year, literally now two of the best TF toys I own now. Absolutely glorious both are. With no doubt many more like them to come. As soon as someone in this fanbase says "third parties make nothing but g1 mps" or something along those lines not only are you infinitely wrong you come across as making yourself seem intensely ignorant and proving that you aren't at all paying attention to how things actually are. We're actually seeing an increasing decline in g1-only releases across the board. Even FanToys is doing some IDW nods now, probably to be followed by more eventually. Just because you haven't noticed the non g1 stuff doesn't mean it isn't there. I've been collecting it for years now. I've spent thousands and thousands on non-g1 stuff by now. Finally here's a list of 3p companies who to date haven't made a single g1 MP figure. And I'm willing to bet that sixshot you complained about was GC's which is slavishly accurate to his IDW incarnation, not his G1. PlanetX Iron Factory Perfect Effect FansProject MasterMade MaasToys MS Toys Generation Toys TFM GCreation Companies like Unique toys are now making incredible movie MP's. Literally some of the most mind-blowingly genius engineered shit ever created. And we have new teams like AlienAttack following them with their incredible looking Stinger figure. Just, stop saying its all g1. Its not, it never has been. Pay attention and stop saying this kinda nonsense.
Thanks, figured only way to really make it clear was to go nuts with photos n examples. Probably put way too much time in to that post than I needed to to make my point haha. But man I get sooooo sick of hearing the "its all g1! its all mps!" rhetoric. It's just not true at all.
@LazyAza I've been asking around, but I can't seem to find the names and numbers for MMC's Thunderclash, Nickel, Tesarus, The Pet, Override, Bulkhead, Guzzle, and Getaway. Have they been announced yet?
They've not been officially announced yet. Just wait. LOL They will not be posted, until MMC clears them.
