Should have imported from Germany, our shipping costs are surprisingly low!

    (Store prices are high, though.)

Wanted to mention that I found the single-packed RID Twinferno case at Target yesterday, the same one that was reported at TRU before. So it's not just TRU getting that odd case.

Whether its coming in or going out of the country, its your countries fees that are outrageous, not mine. You're people as a whole need to elect leaders that do away with these parliament imposed import and export fees.

That is true. I bought a used music CD from germany that cost about $4 shipping. But it shipped october 9th and the dealer claims I didnt pay extra for tracking. I asked him since when does a parcel not come with a tracking number? My guess is the bastard wants extra money to upload it on ebay. Still waiting for the CD. Not sure if he is being honest about the system or if I should report him to ebay. Ill probably wait to see if the package has any printed numbers on it that I can track online. If it does im gonna call ebay and give him s**t feedback.

Never going to happen on the import side. No fees for export bar the postage and IIRC that's comparable to the US now

So if theres no fees to export why is the guy charging 18 bucks to ship a damn thermidor to the US when china ships for less? He must be keeping at least 5 bucks if not more for himself...

There's no way $4 shipping from Germany comes with a tracking number. You most likely paid for something called "Großbrief" ("large letter"), which amusingly can actually be a parcel that is considered a "letter" in international shipping and can thus be surprisingly cheap - but it won't have tracking. I've used this option many times with people who bought from me, and thus far I've never lost a package.

Thanks. I was not aware of this. In America, tracking is standard with even the cheapest form of mail outside of a letter which is like 50 cents. Granted, since it was a CD, he might have mailed it in a thick padded envelope as a letter. The thing that sucks is he assumes international buyers are supposed to know this.

Because postage is cheaper in China? Royal Mail's website quote £13.25 to send a small parcel to the US, £17.25 if you want tracking

By comparison here's a random sample of Bisks from the US to the UK

It's a matter of experience really. I haven't sold anything on eBay in ages, but whenever I dealt with someone here at TFW2005, I would explain the options and most people would prefer "cheap" over tracking.

What I've discovered is that Americans in particular are often massively inexperienced in international shipping, which is why they will often tell me their ZIP code because that's just the way they know it from domestic shipping. I then have to inform them that their ZIP code is irrelevant with regard to the shipping costs - I only have three options: Within Germany, within the European Union, or "other".

Gotcha. Well in Ameeica, they dont charge to issue a number that already exists in the system. Obviously in other country the post office makes up excuses to get every penny they can get.

Didnt know that. So that might explain the price gouging since its a private entity the owns a monopoly.
