Great artwork. I wish the cockpit design was as intricately detailed as that on the final toy.

It’s always cool seeing figures that aren’t represented in fiction, in a more realistic design. It helps to better visualize what they would look like in reality.

    Lovely design.

I love the weirdwolf fig. Mine doesn't have any major issues bar a loose headmaster

The designers always give it their all, and then budget cuts and shoddy manufacturing let them down.

I had just recently read an old Takara interview that said that every designer comes in with toys that would cost hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars at retail, and the larger design team then cuts away something like dozens of features until it's a realistic Transformer.

I've also asked, and been told that Transformers' VISUAL look is often supplied by freelancers (like Emiliano Santalucia, or, sometimes, IDW comicbook artists), and then that visual look is the basis for the toy designed by Hasbro's in-house designers, who are the ones to work out the engineering - a closely-guarded HasTak secret! I'm not saying this is always how it goes, but it seems that way in this case: elements would be changed to better accommodate alt-mode(s), and details removed to meet pricing guidelines.

You never really think about how much hard work goes into designing these toys.

My Weirdwolf just broke earlier this week. What do you guys think I should do, get another Hasbro version or spring for the Takara version and just put my preferred face on it?

Oh does that one not have the cockpit issue? I haven’t gotten anything from that wave yet, maybe I’ll pick up the set from EE.

Half the people on this website never think about it, all they do is complain and complain some more.

Most people dont have problems with the designers themselves.

Apparently the Takara version retains the issue. I never found a specific source but I've heard that W5 Wolfwire doesn't fix the problem either. Don't quote me on that though.

The only thing I know about that rerelease is that it's shelfwarming in my area with a single Misfire.

I’m not so sure thats the case. While most people just simply name Hasbro, I’m pretty sure a lot of hate is directed at the designers.

Not really. It's more directed at Hasbro being cheapskates and not shelling out any money for quality control.

if you're paid to do a service, you put in lots of work but make a fatal flaw that ruins the service for customers. the customer has a right to complain since they got a faulty product?

Yeah, but QC isn’t the designers issue unless it’s of result of poor design. TR Wolfwire’s canopy issue is a design flaw, and can be blamed on the designers or the factory. Calling figures cheap and worthless is also not a designer issue. They do what they can with their budget. We’ve all seen what they can do, with figues like Nitro Zues, TLK Megatron or Evasion Prime. As @HotRhinoximus86 said, all figures seem to start out very much more advanced, and they have to be whittled away at until they come up with something that stays within budget constraints. Thats not a designer issue, they are doing their job, thats a Hasbro issue.
