I do agree though, this seems priced a bit high, especially considering what their competitors are offering with accessories etc.

 

I just got the teregenisus mold as a tfcon exclusive, so I’m a little Leary of oc max right now.

I think I like this one the best. But based on price and the “last figure I got from them” test and despite seeing this in person I’m having a hard time hitting buy.


I paid 80 for Richthofen and huff. I’d pay 80 for the cosmos of my dreams.

 

Umm ... srry it wasn’t my intention to obfuscate the issue of price, I was just trying to point out that for those that really want this iteration, I wouldn’t bemoan paying near $100 bc there are creative end-arounds ...

True enough that BBTS prices are certainly no benchmark for value, but even so, the price is still much higher than other Cosmos'.

Someone else said it better than I did, coming last, not definitely superior, and also the most expensive is not the right strategy.

 

Some of the business decisions by these 3Ps seem so nonsensical that I just assume the market is completely different in Asia and that’s what they concern themselves with ... Toywold’s latest iterations of Springer and Kup being a case in point ...

 

Bleh, after seeing the video of it, I do really like it still and I do still want it (just not as much as Klaatu, who is still on the way, dammit, hurry up already), but I'll just echo everyone else by saying that $80 is a bit steep, especially when there is existing competition. Maybe MMC think they're Apple (a bit like how Nintendo seems to think they're Apple, but that's another discussion for another day) and are charging a premium "just because". Maybe not. I don't know, but what I do know is that they're doing themselves no favours at that price point.
Oh well, hopefully I can get it on sale eventually.

I'm having buyers remorse I went with Klaatu after watching paiks review. Looks really good.

 

I like the bot mode proportions of this guy, but the greens are bizarre choices. Why does the alt mode look like a tire?

I like the alt mode shape of XTB's, and they nailed the greens. But the yellows are a smorgasbord of mismatched paint and plastic, and the ankle ratchets are stupid-wide.

TW's isn't even in the discussion for me. Just... blah.

So I'll probably end up with Klaatu just due to price. It's settling, but none of these choices really do it for me. Bummer.

 

His greens are close to the animation apparently. Main green on the original toy was more saturated in comparison far as I can tell.



So I guess you can blame the original animators for the color?   Never been a fan of green in general myself, kinda my least favorite color.

 

Eyyyyyyyyy thanks for finding some examples. I knew they were out there lol. I am definitely toy-biased myself, and probably remember the show through that filter as a result. The rounded edges plus the gray on Omne still looks more like a tire than Cosmos to me. But the price combined with having to go all the way back to Sphinx A to find an OM release that didn't disappoint me in-hand... it's just discouraging.

 

I just got Klaatu, it's an incredible solid piece.

No. I'm saying that this thread went from everybody being "meh" when there was lineart to "ooh, that actually looks pretty good," when we saw the prototype to "meh, too expensive and they're too late to the game," when the price was announced. I'm saying that I don't think it's going to sell well because they're charging too much. They might've been able to get away with that if they were the first to the table but being the third one to release and at 4/3 the price of the others they're going to struggle to get sales.
The people who wanted cosmos badly enough already have xtb or tw. The people who didn't want him badly enough to buy either of those probably aren't going to want him badly enough to pay even more for this one. That leaves serious Cosmos fans, people who like this mold enough to get rid of their current version and pay more for this, or people who waited but want him now. I just don't believe there's going to be enough of those people. I would've been willing to pay $50 or maybe $60 on him but definitely not $80 and, going by the comments in this thread, I'm not alone.
So yeah, I think they're going to be sitting on a lot of unsold stock until they mark it down. Once they do, I might pick him up.

 

If stores only order enough to fill preorders, there might not be that much leftover stock.

 

 Not to beat a dead horse but every MMC I've gotten has had issues right out of the box. I'm at the point where if there is another option, I don't even consider them anymore.

 

I hope we get other 3P options for an MP Mirage.
