I'm only months and months behind everyone else, but I finally got mine today. He's so great. I'm not only ready for Megatron, but more than ready for any other G1 guys they want to make.

Anyone remember what kind of batteries I can use for him? I remember reading it somewhere but can't find it.

Retrieved my Voltron. I really think I'm going to need to splurge and get Lion-O at some point.

Ohhhhh, I like this one. It does not fit with my collection but I can see this going in my office and confirming my nerd status.

my hips have been fine, but yes, they are super tight. I also don't see an easy way to disassemble to get some lube in there or to sand down the teeth a bit, unfortunately.

I've had no problems with hip joints nor any joints for that matter. Great figure at a great price!

I have read about the tight hip issues, I think it's one of those YMMV things. I've had mine since he came out, and haven't had any issues with the hips. Not to tight & not to loose. Nice loud clicks, but no problem moving them.

The hips on my copy haven't cracked or anything, BUT, when they are moved forward/backward, it sounds and feels terrifying.

My hips are pretty tight as well. As you, I am probably going to attempt to open and apply some lube. Mine arrived on Saturday, and the top-half of my left thumb popped off, easy fix with super glue. I will say that this is an awesome looking piece in hand. I just need to find a way to make it the center of my collection, space is a concern, because it does look that good IMHO. Additionally, I used a microfiber cloth to remove any film that may have been placed on the figure for pre-shipment storage purposes. I can see a noticeable difference in the overall sheen on the plastic and shine on the paint. I wiped down the BFG as well and it looks better, but ymmv.

The hips on mine are perfect as well. But even the ones with tight hips, I've not actually heard of any issue with breaking, they just sound really bad.

This has been sitting in my pile of loot for a while now waiting on more stuff to show up. Came today and is totally more impressive in person! Excited for Meg's even more now, still not sure where the hell I can put these two but nice problem to have. This guy is fucking massive!

Can anyone comment on the paint application? Prone to chipping? I can't tell from the pictures if he has a glossy or semi-glossy finish. I ask because I'm thinking of acquiring one, and it'll be "out in the open"/dust exposed.

I would call it more of a matt finish than glossy. But prone to chipping? No, not at all.
