Well in trying to see how much the total cost would be accidentally ended up just placing the order. PayPal did converted to USD. 129.99 shipped to pa not bad. I just hope big bad toy store or TFsource don't end up selling it for cheaper. Glad to get it though

They're gonna add a 50 dollar markup. That's how it was with Calidus and Cynicus.

 

I see TFSource increased the price for Calidus to $130 recently since it was originally $99.99 like it was everywhere else which isn't much of a stretch of what it cost at the show, IIRC. I remember Cynicus was also $99.99 or something like that when it was first released but they have it for $120 now. Not quite the ~50% markup like what you'd normally think but definitely an increase from the original listing which I think was close to the show price

 

...bear in mind that anyone other than PSX (excepting the occasional A3U release) doesn’t get limited figures at wholesale: they have to pay the same retail and transport prices you would have, and then charge a minimal markup on top of that to make stocking costs worth their time...

 

Both masks aren't exact 1-1 recreations of the copyrighted logo designs so they sit comfortably in a legal grey area.

Here's a side by side visual to show you the differences in their basic silhouettes.



The real logos are broader and have deep cut segmentation between their various shapes. Kulturs normal mask outside of its brow area looks very different to the con logo, has a defined jaw line and the front comes to a sharp point in its three dimensional shape. The logos are after all very flat. I would say the general shape of AstKults mask is much closer to the auto logo it represents but again, narrower and not as segmented and the three dimensional sculpt is shaped much closer to how a face would be.

Um. No, no I haven't. I'm not sure why you think basic understanding of trademark law is such an uncommon thing for people to understand. I've seen the mask thing brought up several times now so I thought I'd help with addressing some of that worry is all. I really don't see either of the masks as a potential legal issue for mmc.

 

So, are there any extra accesories for this guy?

Article obviously goes into detail but overall I really dig it. It's my first experience with the Kultur mold in general so it was cool to check it out and see how the reformatted line has progressed, particularly in the transformation aspect; night and day (in a positive way) from what I remember! Quick question: I can't tell if the red Con mask is of the new sculpt or if its the old one that originally came with Kultur. I know it has magnets in it so I assume its the new sculpt?

Man I'm all in on this guy but by the time I made up my mind he's out of stock for preorder at PSX. Oh well. Guess I gotta brave the after market. If anyone wants to dump there's I'm interested.

 

New sculpt, same new mask that came with tyran just in red. Slightly thicker and angled back a bit more so its less flat.

 

Thanks. I think I prefer the new sculpt. Any plans to make that mask available in purple with any other release or any other Kultur fixes? The cannon piece is my biggest gripe.

 

I'm afraid if you want the new mask in purple you'll have to buy a tyran or get that mask from someone who doesn't want it for now. The mask itself is designed for the new kultur cyclops head after all and even though it can still attach to the original head it doesn't sit as well or as firmly on it.

Other stuff for both versions of kultur has been discussed many times but if and when and how it will be available is up to the boss. I presume any such content will come with nickel or pet though now rather than just being a small box of stuff like the carnifex upgrade was.
