Just in the last week alone I've noticed a large number of Beast Wars related topics. There's always been some interest in the show, it's still a great series but it just seems a little unusual to have such a quick and sudden boost in popularity recently. Are we on some kind of anniversary or something? That could account for the sudden burst of BW topics.

Not complaining, it's my favorite series and I'm more than happy to discuss anything Beast Era, was just curious why it seems like so many Beast Wars related topics have been posted in such a short amount of time. This seems more common amoung current runs, new releases, or anniversaries. I just can't think of anything Beast Wars related happening right now to account for the increase in topic discussions lately.

Well, you just contributed to the trend. Did you gain any insight? ;)

Maybe it's similar for everyone else, and thinking about Beast Wars due to some thread or another gives them an idea for another BW-related topic. I had sorta noticed, but now you've got me curious about it!

Because if we don't talk about Beast Wars, the Geewunners win.

    Because Beast Wars is awesome!

Seriously, though, it's probably a combination of a number of factors. Old casual fans reaching that age where they get nostalgic and want to revisit their childhood, possibly prompted by other shows returning from that era like Dragon Ball and Digimon. Or the more hardcore fans rewatching the series probably brought on by the new MPs, PotP Optimal Optimus, and the addition of Beast Era characters to the IDW continuity. Or maybe people are just burned out on the slop that Hasbro is turning out currently and the well of G1 has finally run dry. God knows I gave RiD 2.0 a good shot and I just couldn't stand it. It was literally like the same episode over and over, except different characters spotlighted. And as far as G1, I think people are finally getting tired of it. I mean, what character from G1 can you not get both a MP-style version of or a Classics version of, either official or 3rd party or both?! We've literally reached the point where Hasbro is doing Pretenders. Pretenders! Only a few years ago, I would have laughed at anyone who'd suggest they do Classic Pretenders. Now there's a whole sub-line of them! What is really left after that? Action Masters? Micromaster Combiners?

Honestly, I think Beast Wars is the future after PotP. They're different, so it'd be a refreshing change from all the cars, trucks, and jets we've had over the past 15 years. Do you really need another G1 Classics Optimus Prime? They're easier to design and cheaper to produce when half the articulation in beast mode is re-used in bot mode. And if you want gimmicks, BW had it's own gimmicks. Many of them the same or similar to G1. You want combiners? Do Magnaboss, Tripredacus, repaint the inevitable CW Seacons as God Neptune, and get creative from there. You want triple-changers? Do Transmetals. You want easy 1-step Transformers? We got your flip-changers. You want some stupid minicon/micromaster gimmick? Why not resurrect the Sparkmasters idea that was never fully realized in figures like TM2 Megatron and Tigerhawk.

Im glad to be apart of this trend
I actually just generally more interested in beast era stuff than any other series.
So i just get curious about stuff that noone ever seems to talk about and im sure others are too
    Hence we make threads.
One day ill be alive to actually experience a new beast era and Ill say it'll happen around 2019 or later

In other words popularity is growing fast lately
weve simply been biding our time
    For the right moment
    To strike

    *thunderous applause*
One step changers dont have articulation which they need frankly

I think interest in Beast Wars has been steadily increasing since we started approaching last year's 20th anniversary of the show. Fans of the show wanted lots of awesome stuff for that anniversary and while we didn't get it, it's slowly been starting to trickle down since then, with the BW MP figures and POTP Primal and it's helping to keep the increase in BW interest going.

I doubt we'll be getting a beast wars resurgance anytime soon. John Warden is a geewun fanboy, he hates Beast Wars.
Well good through all of the g1 gimmicks and characters, we'll get Generations versions of Raiden, Noise and Graphy before we get Terrorsaur, Tarantulas, or Depth Charge

It's Hasbro. They've admitted they read the online boards. They're seeding little threads to gauge popularity.

    Yes you did! :sly:

We could just MERGE all these Beast Wars discussion thread into a MEGA BEAST WARS thread...

Just throwing it out there. :ev:  Bwhahahahahaha!

On topic: I was overseas when BW came out and when we got back to the States, I thought OH NOES what did they do to TFs??? Well, I finally managed to get my hands on the entire series and watched with fun and satisfaction throughout the series, until B/Machines, but got thru that too. A couple of years ago showed my nephew and he loved it too. He has more of the BW toys than I do too! Aww. :lol

So, we're always going to have members who've just found BW and want to discuss it.. those of us who've seen it and loved it should enjoy the drive down Memory Lane just one more time. :thumb

I'm a Geewunner, (and the Geewunners are always winning). That aside, I just started watching BW when I got the DVD box set from Amazon last week. First few episodes in, it's a little bit rough to watch the visuals compared to today's CGI, but I feel the story flow along with better character development, does a good job in hooking older fans such as myself, in.

The Geewinners mostly love us some beast wars, since its the only decent medium to come after the G1 era (commics and Prime included in the decent list)

Best response in the whole thread. I think you're probably right.

No you're not. Geewunners are purists who instantly hate anything not G1 without even giving it a chance. If you were a Geewunner you never would have watched Beast Wars. It's not a title for anyone who is a fan of G1 Transformers, it's an insult for purists who hate everything else.
