Hello everyone! I'd like to announce my theory on the RID Cons..My theory is essentially, that all of the RID Cons were all "branded" by the council responsible for driving Team Prime away. Think of this as similar to Empurata and cold construction and functionism. People who were criminals on Cybertron would be branded by the council, with their bodies being reshaped, and replaced, before being stowed on the Alchemor. Does anyone else agree with this possible idea?

That's an interesting and creative idea (although I'm no fan of IDW's Empurata concept) but I think that would be giving the writers too much credit. The simple explanation is that they're simply thugs and criminals.

I'm not trying to be nasty towards the writers, but I just think considering the target audience, a simpler explanation is probably best.

I agree with Megano that that would make sense, but also with Ruizu1990 in that it gives the writers too much credit.

But yeah . . . if being a Decepticon means what it did in TFP--being a follower of Megatron in the Decepticon army--then Grimlock was a follower of Megatron, which seems out of character for him. Unless he was brainwashed / had personality components locked away as part of his "treatment", which would also make for an interesting scenario. But it seems more likely that he actually did what he claimed (unintentional property damage) and then was branded with the Decepticon insignia to mark him as a second-class citizen.

Or maybe the last episode will have him suddenly start tearing into the Autobots and the big reveal will be that he was a double agent all along, lol.

I disagree with the idea that their bodies were reshaped or replaced because it means they at least didn't remove thunderhoof's shock wave stomps or underbite's power to get stronger by eating metal.

I do agree however that their decepticon brands were probably only put on them after arrest for two reasons.

1). They seem like petty criminals, not veteran soldiers.

2). The autobots use the decepticon symbol to track the criminals. It seems unlikely they handicapped themselves that way.

Therefore, I imagine that while the council built great monuments to team Prime, they demonized the decepticons and turned the symbol into a punishment.

Which brings an interesting question to bear . . . assuming Cyclonus is secretly in charge of the council, was that his doing? And if so, why? (Presuming he's a Decepticon himself.)

Is he mad at Megatron for disbanding the 'Cons and trying to delegitimize Megatron's calls for peace by making it seem like he is still actively recruiting low-lifes?

Or is it a way to drive otherwise unaligned criminals towards the Decepticon army, which he plans to take over? Like, make a lot of petty criminals say, "Okay, I don't really care about this Decepticon thing, but I have nowhere else to turn and I'm already wearing this brand and they're offering me a job, sooo . . ."

Or was it a case of the council being run by unsympathetic Autobots (seems like Prowl's jam) and then Cyclonus swept in later and influenced them or took over?

I have to admit it sounds like the second one..But..considering Cyclonus has such cartoon-based art..it's pretty ovbious he will be in the series.

I asked that befor but why does everyone asume the prisoners got captured after the war?

In Prime Megatron said they were called Decepticons by the old Council and he just changed the meaning, right?

What if the Decepticon name was given to them in order to please an Autobot majority. Decepticons were seen as evil throughout history and so anyone seen as a threat to peace would probably be defined as Decepticon.
