so upon watching the movie again at home. Although it was said by santos "they are in a transformer" Cade, Cogman, and Burton all refer to the ship as "she" or "her" which is very common with ships of the sea and space. Example the millennium falcon is refereed to as "she", and just about any military ship is and always has been referred to as "she" But what really interests me and got me thinking was Cogman says to Cade while they are in the sub "what happens in the alien ship stays in the alien ship" And Cade says "you know how to drive this thing?" Or something like that. I am starting to think that it was meant to be a cybertronian transport in disguise not an actual transformer.
I remember "they're in a transformer" being said by Santos or Lennox in that scene. Idk I could be wrong
Yeah I think they did. TLK was so hacked together that it was probably a bit of the script they forget to change after they decided not to make the Sub transformer. If bay just kept his mouth shut we'd have never known it was originally intended to be a TF, (or that Cogman was originally supposed to a Head Master for that matter!) and it'd be one (two) less disappointment(s)
I said in my original post that santos definitely says that. But just because it has the energy of a transformer doesn't mean it isn't a ship from cybertron... However with the way these stories are crafted who knows
The humans said it jumped its moorings, so it could have transformed slightly or ignited thrusters. One scene its a tour site and next its cruising down the Thames, who knows
Who knows lol. Simply saying "they're in a transformer" and having it do a undersea vehicle mode back flip is barely compelling. It never talks, transforms...its like if hot rod were to be in vehicle mode all movie and not speak and call it a transformer. By the movie's logic even the plane they took off in to get to that side of the world could be a transformer, who knows?
This was a huge missed opportunity. I've always wanted to see a big marine transformer like Tidal Wave. They could have at least given it a voice or flashed a hidden Autobot insignia somewhere on it. Really cool shot of it cruising down the Thames though.
Your right I forgot about that line, but if it was a cybertronian ship it could do that I suppose. Idk I think it's a transformer but i am confused by what Cogman says
I agree. Saying it jumped can be a vague term. People call this a "jump jet" Given it's age, I think it's highly likely that it is a Transformer.
also just because it doesnt talk or isnt seen in a different mode doesnt mean its not a transformer...there have been examples of such..loader from dotm comes to mind and seeing how burton seems to have an army of aging transformers...the ship fits the bill
I honestly have no idea how there could be any doubt or debate on this when they specifically say "They are in a transformer". The thing starts itself, undocks itself and steers itself. If it were a ship and not a transformers they would still need to know how to start the thing to get things going which they didn't know how to do. also based on other transformers ships that have been seen none have had an earthlike appearance certainly not a ww2-ish style sub and I doubt a ship could scan and take on an appearance of one. So what if the thing doesn't talk or transform maybe it lost the ability
It doesn't start itself. It starts when Vivian touches it, the same way the staff transforms when she touches it. Also, autopilots exist. There's nothing that says that can't.
After watching the scene again I see you are right. I thought you could hear the ship powering up with flickering lights before she touches it. In the end though I think it's obvious it's ment to be a transformer not just a ship of one. If I'm not mistaken production crew referred to it as a transformer and movie dialog does call it out as one.
You're absolutely right, however the reason I started this thread is not only do they mention it as being a transformer but Cogman then refers to it as a ship, I believe 3 times, as does Vivian
I think it's a transformer too but watching the scene again really kind of gave me this weird thought that like the one at the bottom of the ocean, this is some kind of ship but in disguise. I mean the other ship rose up out of the ocean and over Stonehenge on its own
