After the Bayverse fiasco... don't kid yourselves... does anyone have any faith left in this franchise rising above "popcorn flick" status? Bay crushed my hopes.

To add, I think the new movies would benefit from not being fast tracked. Take some time with them. We don't need a new one each year. I'm still trying to figure out why Bumblebee is getting a solo one!!!!

Well, obviously because they have a great story that they can't wait to tell! :p

Or maybe, because Bumblebee is to Hasbro, the Transformers franchise's equivalent to Minions. A mute, puppy minded, yellow, kid mascot. They're slapping together a cheap knock-off of Iron Giant with some superficial G1 visual queues (and John Cena?!?!) to lure whoever they can, as cheaply as possible, to keep their asses on producer seats and their hands on their cash cow a while longer.

I'm actually inclined to agree with this.

There are worse things it could be. Not like Iron Giant was the pinnacle of originality seeing as it was basically an homage to E.T. and The Day the Earth Stood Still.

They actually made a presentation card for Bumblebee for an Investor's day that was not far removed from this! It was like, throwing random words, like "yellow", "friendly", "heroic", "cool" and "kids love Bumblebee". Wow, what a great character! Hmmm, seems like the franchise owners know very well what they're doing. Some deep knowledge and insight there!

I still think the characters in the generations toyline should be featured in the IDW comics.
All fears that this would get in the way of story and characterisation are bullshit.
There currently is no stort in IDW and such a move would finally provide characterisation which is now also missing from the comics.

That would mean they have come to their senses and stopped believing in the romantic delusion that fiction is the pinnacle of humanities accomplishments.
That will not happen. The entertainment industry is to experienced at fooling people into worshipping their overblown ego's and praising their insidious, bigotted, disgusting creations.
If only people would stop taking films seriously. We might finally start to move forward as a race if that could happen.

The series is a trainwreck and does need a reboot.

However, the risk with a reboot is telling yet another origin story, which every single film so far has tried to do.

The people handling the reboot would need to be smart, and treat it like Spiderman Homecoming- just drop in on these new characters and let us learn about them naturally. Hasbro has put together competent writing teams for smaller projects before, I'm sure they could actually assemble people who could pull it off. The problem is that it would be very hard for them sweeping house and clearing out their big moneymakers like Bay. If it ain't broke, as they say...

Why don't we stop taking music or any other form of art seriously while we're at it too? The colosseum is where it's at! Entertainment and human culture peaked right then and there! Those were the days!

Oh man... That actually killed me inside a little bit...

Instrumental music is actually very wholesome since you can't use it to spread messages designed to make people feel like they are inferior or make them look down on others :p

As a musician, myself, your worldview makes me very sad. At the end of the day though, if this reflects the way you think about art and entertainment indeed, then you're really missing out. Being cynical does not equal "coming to one's senses".

Well Bumblebee is yellow so in Paramount and Hasbro's world that means Wolverine, the same way that a Red and Blue OP = Superman or Spidey.

I like beautifull things as much as the next person and art and entertainment can do good things. The problem is that the great majority of people involved with art and entertainment seem rather to want to use it to do bad things instead.
I guarantee you the cynisism isn't mine, it's the industries. I'm just tired of it's continuing efforts to sell harmfull ideas while pretending they are creating something "that will change the world and especially your life and explores what it means to be human while holding up a mirror to society". THAT is cynisism. And sadly i am still not quite as selective in the fiction i consume as i want.
I enjoy music of all kinds but when i hear a sixteen year old sing about how he has figured out life and how "we" are all something or other or do something or other i wish that person would step outside themselves and take a long critical look at themselves.
I'm sorry, but i'm not missing out on anything by not lavishing myself unquestioningly at the fountain of remorseless ego and amoral propaganda. And no, that is not just Hollywood, not by a long shot. My worldview (or my view on art and entertainment which seem to be so all encompasing to you as to deserve to be called a worldview) only enhances the quality of my life. Being critical of people who have an easy answer to every problem (often that answer is to deny the existence of those problems) and unashamedly propagate that all animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others while pretending (and possibly believing) they are saving the world is very much coming to ones senses.
    Wow. What a rant :lol

Anyway, why should my worldview make you sad. I'm just one person.
Heck i might even like your music.

Hollywood cannot crash any faster enough. Mark my words, once Paramount is done with Transformers, the Unicron Trilogy is going to look like works of art in comparison to Bayformers.

I grew up with the films, it's had it's run. I loved the 07 film when I was younger, it was decent, cgi still holds up. However, These films have never done anything but give the fans a stereotype I feel.

I will literally laugh out loud if this is a complete reboot of the series/franchise. Why? Because it will absolutely abolish very single thing about TLK and its nearly 3 hours of *solely* setting up a huge Unicron climax and theoretical finale. I mean, the entire goddamn movie is nothing but a setup & cliffhanger. If THAT'S how the Bay era ends... man oh man... it'll be sweet poetic justice to the haphazard clusterfuck way all of his TF movies were approached and made.

We really didn't get a good origin story to start with.
