Sounds like there's a chance the wall will be repaired, and a new mural will be added in the future.
Now if they can apologize to the fans about The last Knight..

 

How would you mount plywood to the wall without damaging the mural or wall?
You could use screws that would penetrate the wall- which would damage the mural.
You could VHB tape it to the wall- which would mar the mural.

So why go thru the effort and expense of protecting a painting that will be coming down?

 

For the folks who are saying "don't be upset," did you guys read what the description of the mural was about? It was a memorial mural. I find it totally understandable why folks would be upset.

Having said that, I also understand why the building owner allowed Paramount to paint over it. And I also understand why Paramount took the blame for this non-mistake.

The only person I'm really worried about is the building owner because of the backlash he's getting. He doesn't deserve to get threats. But he also goofed up because even though its his property, that wall was basically being treated as "community art installation."

 

No one is saying not to be upset. What we are saying is it's ridiculous to witch hunt Paramount for doing it.

The saddest part is, i bet the mural won't be seeing in the footage from the film.  

 

I think it's about time murals start being painted onto removable sheets, so stuff like this doesn't happen. And to protect it from other thigs as well, like weather.

I know of a case in the car-collector community where George Lucas rented a vintage car for an Indy movie, promised the owner it'd come back without a scratch, then totaled it and laughed in the guy's face.

 

What exactly did the mural represent? Maybe the Mayor hated it, and saw a chance to get rid of it!

Imagine the awkwardness when you were a baby. Imagine being show a baby with a face that was a warrant, and being asked how cute you thought it was!
