Not for me. We need Hoodlum as a better Hot Rod over MP28. I'm sure FT will do Rodimus at some point.

 

C'mon FT, give us some updates on this guy.  

 

I certainly hope that's true, but I have to retain some scepticism. If FT is able to match the digi's, I think they will, but some things might be out of their capabilities. We'll see what the final product looks like at the next reveal they post.

I still remember the FT of old that didn't take the fan feedback and act on it as strongly as they do now. Really, the feud with GP changed all that, since it was GP that started the trend to redesign based on early solicited feedback. It's a great practice to have and will lead to a lot of success, but it does need to be implemented correctly. It's universal consensus that the digis do wonders in improving the look of hoodlum with a few small changes, let's hope that it is possible for FT to make then a reality.

 

I think @botfan is right. Hoodlum has the better bot mode proportionally, but Takara MP-29 still captures the Hot Rod character better. @Psychoshi fixes this in his Digi by making Hoodlum appear younger.

 

Even just the head provides a marked improvement. Nice sig, btw!

I agree, and if nothing else I think the head is a no brainer for FTs. The arms shifted down and smaller pipes make a big difference, too, though. The high shoulders contribute to Hoodlum looking more buff and mature, which is not a positive in Hot Rod. As for a side by side of @Psychoshi's digi with MP-28:

 

- Fanstoys has a superior face sculpt
- Fanstoys has a superior torso
- Fanstoys doesn't have those very visible fore arm screw holes.

So glad I didn't rush out and buy Takara's Hot Rod.

 

To be honest, I don't really like the look of Hoodlum's torso. the front looks good but I just can't help but feel like it's a bunch of panels on top of each other that just don't line up right to look like a solid torso MP 28 kind of has this problem too, but Hoodlum doesn't seem to fix it, or possibly makes it worse. We'll have to see how the developed toy looks.

 

FT looks way better... shocking.

 

Funny how the early colorless FT prototype looks much better the the final production version of TT.

Also, the protoype for hoodlum still needs work to beat TT. What's shown in Yeled's post is the digi, not what FT showed.

 

Well, what I mean is that fanstoys prototypes look so meh, but when some color comes up, it looks fantastic. This is just one of the rarest incidences where the actual prototype looks better than the colored mp-28.

 

The only thing I like better is the torso, otherwise MP-28 is superior in every regard. Hoodlum has this odd... Roundness to it, and the arms are awful, especially how the hands are weirdly set back. The head isn't as good, the legs aren't as good, and while like I said the chest is a marked improvement, I don't like all the visible "junk" behind it.

 

The worst photo example of mp28 Vs a photoshopped reshaped fanstoys hot rod.... Seems like a fair comparison
