It might have been okay if it was like Primal's where it eventually powers down, I think this you have to turn off/on

I want to dissassemble the leg to fix the "split" issue, thanks.

Thanks, Sam. I'm considering that as the first and likely only time I would purchase a KO. Before going that route I figured I'd check if anyone had some parts.

No problem, I think apart from use for customs the KOs can also be handy for fixing parts. Having said that the parts don't always match perfectly with the officials, so that might be something worth checking out.

Thanks again, good info. I'll take a look at KO prices and see what I find. I read that the KO's feet are affixed with flathead pins rather than screws, so perhaps that will be an improvement as well. It was really disappointing to have the screw head pop clean off the shank like it did. Such a bummer that I lost the excitement I had about him. It's been building up again though, especially with all these great photos of Shockwave recently!

a1.jpg I held off on this guy because I thought he was too small and just didn't look big enough for Shockwave. I had Quakewave then sold it and picked up Quakeblast, who I liked but he doesn't fit as well with MP-36 esthetics. I was able to get MP-Shockwave for a great price on ebay and figured for that price I could buy it just to check the figure out. He is now my favorite version of Shockwave. The transformation is fun. I wish he was a tad taller and a bit darker purple but I like the look and feel much more than Quakeblast. Plus he goes better with MP-36 Megatron esthetics. a2.JPG

And Quakeblast is too big compared to Soundwave. No MP Shockwave scales well with MP 13 i think.

Official, yes, but only if the cartoon is the be all and end all. For someone who grew up with the toys and only ever got to see a few episodes of season 1 as a kid the toys and the comic were bigger influences on how I saw the Transformers. In toy form Shockwave was HUGE and in the comics he was a highly logical bad-ass. I agree with those and understand those who want him to be larger - at least as tall as Soundwave and I'd take him as tall as Megs.

This in no way slights those that love the scale Takara produced him at - plenty of folks consider that perfect - just part of the fun of collecting Transformers I guess.

This is how my Shockwave with new wider and taller feet looks (also he's custom painted).
I think that's a perfect scale. I wish some 3rd party would do feet like that using die-cast.

This and perhaps a bit wider shoulders (but that's hardly possible i think) would make him perfect.

Wow, a huge improvement. If he'd been released that size and colour (and was painted) then there's no way I'd have sold him to re-buy Quakewave.

Yup, this guy is still ripe for one of those Wei Jang style KO-improvements!

I have to agree, I really do think that the official Shockwave goes best with MP 36.

Weird. Must be the deeper purple making him look more imposing in these photos then. As you were, internet!

Edit: Actually I'm not going crazy. According to the Radicons post highlighting the changes in this custom the new feet have added 2-3 mm to the height of the figure. Amazingly that seemed to make an obvious difference for me despite it seeming like such a small increase.

The Takara scale is the MP scale. There is no other "scale". They own the IP, it is their brand, therefore what TT decides the scale is going to be, that's what it is.

We can all argue how bad-ass Shocky was in the comics (he was amazing) but TT follows the cartoon. That's it.

Not disagreeing with the fact that you wish it'd be different, after all we all want different things. But the whole "it should be as tall as Megs" gets a bit old and repetitive, when we all know cartoon Shocky was a useless, tiny idiot.
