Cate Blanchett Joins Eli Roth's 'The House With A Clock In Its Walls'

The House With A Clock In Its Walls” is based on the 1973 book written by John Bellairs and illustrated by Edward Gorey, that follows a young boy who discovers his Uncle’s house contains a deadly secret: an evil wizard built a clock that could cause the end of the world, and hid it inside the house.

Jack Black and Cate Blanchette are signed on.

I read the book as a child, and found it a great bit of goth fiction.

This will be Roth's first family-level horror film, as well as his first Goth film; he's better known for contemporary slasher films like Hostel and Green Inferno.

I hope they can keep Edward Gorey's fantastic Goth designs for the film.

Maybe he's just trying something different, like Burton himself has been doing lately (Big Eyes, live-action Dumbo).

Some behind-the-scenes goofing off. Jack Black and Cate Blanchett headbanging to Immigrant Song.

The torture is the audience, right?

This actually looks like a better Harry Potter movie than the Fantastic Beasts movies are. I saw the trailer today, and I was surprised when I found out this came from Eli Roth of all people.

So this is out, is it any good? I am dreading most "young adult fantasy" adaptations frankly, never like Harry Potter or its many knockoffs either, but due to my young brother, I did end up watching a lot of these. That said this one had my interest because I like Jack Black, he can be genuinely funny.
