[EDIT: Final images now added below!]

Hi all, I've now progressed from the original concept art (Thread posted here Thunderwing from TLK Voyager Megatron (WIP)) to the customisation stage.



In contrast to the excellent Leader-class version by Cheetimus, this version is designed to closer represent the G1 Thunderwing (in both his toy and Marvel comic portrayals). I still need to add further coats of paint/more paint apps to pull out small details and - most importantly - the lavender paint.

In my original concept, I was going to paint the front part of his 'skirt' lavender, but actually painting the boxier side skirts would more accurately represent the toy (see below: it's pretty spot on)!



I'll update the post once I've made more progress, but any feedback in the meantime is welcome!

And finally... SURPRISE! This custom was actually made from the OS KO version of the Voyager figure (often listed as Rendsora). Whilst a Leader-class figure would have been perfect, there is precedent for him being even bigger in the comics (sometimes).

I agree. The next TF movie, after the Bumblebee one, should feature Thunderwing and all the other Pretenders.

Definitely! The more organic look of the movie figures really suits Pretenders. *Wonders about potential Bludgeon customs...*

Haha, I think that was more stylised shadows, but I like it! It would bring out the white eyes if I can pull it off!

Yesss, look forward to seeing it! Thunderwing was one of my favourites, so I'm always happy to see more customs of the character!

Ah yeah! Funnily enough, an image search turned up a custom of the Generations Black Shadow figure by Cheetimus.

I look fwd to some detailing, especially on the arms to break up the full gray.

Can you show an alt mode pic?

 

Will post pics of the alt mode once I've painted it up further! I prioritised robot mode as that's how he's usually seen.

 

Will you give him green arms or just leave them gray like the G1 toy?

 

Makes sense. Especially in the G1 comics.

 

The toy already has a dark blue-grey colour as a base, so I'll probably leave it at that but I may try and break it up a bit? Sometimes Thunderwing had darker/Black shoulder pads, so maybe that will be enough?
