Kinda wish they didn't do any weathering and just painted the Titan Master robot mode instead. It just looks weird that some parts are clean and others looked aged.

I found it on some other script leak of some sort before the toys were even spoke of. Cogman was to be a head master who takes over a Cons body.

there had been other Movie vers transformers toys that had added features and actual characters that were missing from the final cut of the film. I remember in a special edition one such case was covered and what would happen is Hasbro gets a copy of the script and so they base these figures on the script that is handed to them. When there are script changes it is too late to change the toy cos in order for the toys to come out on time they have to made way ahead of the release of the film. This feature with Cogman was pretty damn specific and if you thin about it, too costly just to fuck around with it. Hasbro got a script that convinced them that a scene where Cogman takes over a cons body would happen. From the time Hasbro took to start of the toys to when Mr Bay spoke about Cogman rumors at the small conference in the church in London; "Cogman does not show his headmaster ability in this film." Also how many times has Bay ever said this or that was not going to be in a film and oh guess what...there's Grimlock! Remember "No DinoBots EVER?"

Who knows why Bay changed a good idea out of script. If that scene had happen the whole theater would have erupted!

Maybe, but it seems just as likely to me that the script just had a non-transforming, human-sized butler character in the script and Hasbro said "OK, but throw in a line about him being a Headmaster so we can make toys of him that also interact with the other current mainline".

Hell, even the mention of "Headmaster" with absolutely no context for people who don't already know what that is may have been intended as nothing more than a shoutout, kind of like how the Knights are referred to as "The Knights of Iacon" when that doesn't actually mean anything to non-fans.

No, that Lorenzo dude definitely said Optimus and Megatron were getting a backstory. I dunno where the article is, but I can try to find it.

No, I've read the article. It was misinterpreted by a lot of people (or maybe just a few who spread it their misinterpretations around). What Lorenzo was talking about was that the character's have a long established history and a backstory, IIRC referring to the origins in either Dreamwave or War Dawn. He never said that it would appear in the movie or even that it was the origin of the movie versions of the characters. It was just the stereotypical "these characters have such a rich history/we tried hard to stay true to the characters' origins" spiel that you get in almost every interview regarding comic-book characters regardless of how true it is.

The film companies are pretty on it when it comes to film details like this one. To add something just to make it a toy then what not just make Cogman just a transforming car and be over it with out all of the added drama. Why go through the trouble of making Nitro have a head master port?

These are extra lengths that were completely unnecessary. Hasbro did this because they were given something from the studios that showed these elements.

Nitro Zeus makes sense in that they nay have wanted atleast one toy in the TLK line who could interact with Cogman and, again, it makes sense to have him a Headmaster when that's also the theme of Titan Returns.

I'm not saying it's definitely the case but I do think it's just as, if not more, likely as "There was originally and intended scene wherein he decapitated Nitro Zeus".

I wish I can remember where the hell I read it. But yes that was the big spoiler for Cogman was that he takes over a decepticon body. And honestly that was all that was said. Cogman has the ability to take over other robots bodies. That's what was written. I remember thinking that it was a pretty creepy idea and wondered if he was a traitor or something. When the first image came out that Cogman was a head master, that comment about Cogmans special abilities made more since. I really thought that the film makers were making more of a nod to Transformers Animated with its headmaster character than anything else.

Goddamnit. A different aesthetic and a more interesting colorscheme, and this could have been one of my all-time favorite Transformers. This is EXACTLY what I wanted in Titans Return: a regular real-world (ish) car, particularly a two-seater. In a line that brought back the Head Masters, two conspicuously absent inclusions have been Siren and Nightbeat; the only two real-worldish cars from that line (I'm obviously not counting their Titan Master versions, as those are just heads).

A deep blue and yellow, a different sculpt, and a second Head could turn this into an incredible Punch/Counterpunch.
