Was it ever actually confirmed his name was Bulldog. He's not called such in casting and we got the name from an inscription on his alt-mode.

Tamiya is a plastic model company that makes that particular tank. The real tank was not made by tamiya, is this the same concept artist who spelled "Camaro", "Camero"?

Love the first one, not so much on the second one due to the face and helmet.

I feel like there were a lot of transformations that we saw that didn't even have any/complete sound effects. I remember Drifts got oddly silent before everything locked into place in the junkyard, and I cannot remember anything from Nitro Zeus. He transformed completely two times, in the junkyard and in the town, both with Mowhawk who had a distinct motorcycle revving. Nitro Zeus seemed to transform silently, and that bothered me. The only time his transformation had sound was when he and Megatron took the staff from Optimus.

The transformations were pretty quick to be honest. I remember the transformations back in the first movie they were slow and detailed while everything just happens so quickly and there's much less attention to detail like some parts of Hot Rod were floating in the air! Srsl!

I just hate that the Bay designs look like monsters. Or in this case, monsters-with-guns. Kind of a Spawn-vibe here.

Sadly, I don't think of TFs as invading alien monsters, Hasbro. Sure, warring factions from space... but not monsters. I get that they're big, and hence fill out at least one arbitrary monster checkpoint, but I feel that a lot of character is lost by giving some of these freakish faces (i.e. Skids & Mudflap). Monsters need monster/melty faces, clearly.

So is Hasbro/Paramount mining the fan boards for some feedback with these sketches? There seem to be a lot released suddenly, so I suspect some sort of corporate conspiracy here... :sly:

They're aliens, it's really not realistic to expect them to look so realistic. Yeah I know its a movie about giant, alien, transforming robots, but it makes sense that they're not gonna have human like proportions (a lot of them do though), because they're not human, they're transforming, autonomous organisms that turn into vehicles.

I see some similarities, but it's a much less aggressive look.

The concept art by Burt is still unique for a fututre Autobot in my eyes.

But the jagged teeth, robot saliva, and tentacle/wire hair is NOT human?

You're clearly a big critic of the Star Trek program, as most of those "aliens" were also "human".

I think the original point of the G1 robots ("Transformers", if you will) were there similarities to humans. In fact, it's one of the opening lines said by Spike in the first few episodes!

Besides, you can't use the word "realistic" when talking about aliens because... we haven't seen aliens. So to be so dismissive of aliens that look "human" is kind of silly - for all you know, aliens DO look a lot like us. :sly:

Anyway, you clearly like Bay-bots for what they are. But my problem is that these things are called "Transformers". It's like calling a coffee a Coke, simply because it's also a caffeinated beverage you drink from a cup. It's just not the same thing at all.

Barring the horrible plots/scripts, I might like these movies if they WEREN'T called "Transformers." Invasion of the Mechanoid Bugs, for example.

And if none of that sways you, then let me add that these things don't look appropriate for kids. And without the kids, you have no TFs. Adults don't purchase toys in the same quantities as kids do as a whole. These designs are excellent... for adult fans. I'm not interested in showing my kids adult TFs, though. I want them to watch a TF movie where robots aren't begging for their lives before a summary execution, or where Jazz doesn't get ripped in half, screaming. :(  That's just too hardcore for a kids franchise, and these sketches are too violent/bloody.

Exactly! These things look like dark bosses from an M-rated game that's not appropriate for small children.

But according to Hasbro documents (from Shareholder reports), the big demographic is kids 10 and under! Bay movies are NOT appropriate for kids 10 and under, imo. Too much sex, teen humor, and violent deaths. So how are these Bay movies helping the franchise, over the long run?

Why not design some robots that won't induce childhood nightmares?

I never said it was impossible for aliens to looks human or actually be human, however, it is unlikely an alien being or any alien organism will be directly or identically similar to any lifeforms on Earth simply because of the infinite amount of evolutionary paths that can be taken according to their world's environment compared to ours. And I'll even admit, I was a bit salty towards the Na'vi in Avatar because compared to the other organisms that they coexisted with, they didn't entirely seem to fit. They seemed more humanized, lacking the traits of other organism on Pandora such as four limbs and four eyes.

To respond to your argument regarding children watching these movies, although its not my place to tell you how to raise your children, you clearly underestimate how much they can handle. When I was a child, cartoons were still pretty raw and not entirely censored or sanitized, I'd watch Dragon Ball Z, Ben 10, Bakugan, Secret Saturdays, Naruto, The Airbender, Legend of Korra, even in Transformers Prime, characters got brutal beatings or even brutal deaths both on and offscreen, and while I can't say I barely flinched, it didn't deter me from watching the show. Kids can certainly handle violence and not be scarred for life as many people like to believe, if anything they find it much cooler. The writing and action in these shows weren't just focused on children and dulled it down, they wrote it as if they were trying to reach out to everyone, they didn't treat the audience like they were stupid or childish, and some of the best shows can come out of writing like that because it takes itself serious to a good degree and wanted to tell a story.

Adults still buy transformers in great, no offense, but, do you know where you're commenting? There's a bunch of adult fans on here who will buy transformers toys like its going out of style. If anything its just as close as the kids numbers. Yeah, you probably won't see them standing in a toy aisle at target very often, but believe me, there are a lot out there who buy the toys just as much as kids do, as well as watch the shows, in fact, a lot of adults watch the cartoons more than the kids.

And the human like traits are acceptable, such as the wire hair. Facial hair has been seen in Transformers before (even in g1) , and I think the wire or chain hair was a good real life adaptation of that hair. I like the designs because they look they would transform according to their design. They look like their parts fit when they transform, like they're actually wearing their disguises and vehicles.
