I'm 50/50 on Pipes. Character has little interest for me but the completionist in me kind of wants to get him. I dont think the lack of paint is quite so glaringly obvious on him, the blue seems less plasticky. The windows however are just a bit off. Definitely need some paint

I think it's not so much that it's lacking paint, it's that the choice of the plastic for the orange just screams out for paint. If they had used a nice solid plastic color like V1 or something else it would probably be a non issue. The problem is that orange translucent looking stuff they used looks really cheap and makes for what looks like a cheap figure at a very high price point. I think that's why everyone is harping on it.

I just want to chime in and also ask BC to improve the paint apps.

However I do like this mold better than the first, especially the new cab, and it might be my first BC purchase (if they do better paint for that price!)

I like the new mold also but whatever BC does on paint apps, don't do chrome. I'm sorry if that is what everyone else wants but they'll look very odd with the current MP minibots, which don't have chrome. Plus, I'm not a chrome fan.

Maybe as a toy version they can do chrome but not for toon accuracy one. Keep the painted gray.

Agreed, no chrome... just sort out the orange and a few details.

I'd like the face to be the same colour as the arms, It looks dead without the metallic paint.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. But I figured it was worth a try.

I'd do the same if I owned v1. Instead, I'll settle for v2 with a custom paint job.

Mine has a little paint narf (V1) but I figure better a tiny paint narf than a whole cab of cheesy looking plastic. Who knows...maybe the reviews will be positive and this is another "It's a hard color to photograph" thing...you know...like purple (HE TELL ME).

Anyhow...I don't see this selling out super soon that anyone needs to jump on it unless you really want one.

All good points, although personally I feel like the choice of a flat cab instead of the angled windscreen is the biggest problem, and that's purely a creative choice. Don't really understand why they did that.

I'm sorry Cubex Huff is just better than this. Here is some love for him.

Mmm, you make a very good case... but I think the new bot mode seem leaner and better proportioned and the new cab mode fits in well with the rest of the Masterpieces i.e. more real world, less toon. It has been said however the paint apps are lacking. Yours looks great though - is that just Reprolabels-ToyHax labels?

I will agree the new bot mode is sleeker. if a bit cheap looking. I have to disagree with the cab mode comment. MP isn't going for real world accuracy above all, it is going for toon accuracy with licensed alt modes but even so, there are trucks that exist that look like Huffer. Even Hasui's design had the right looking cab. Yes they are repros, they were still reprolabels back then.

I'm gonna be honest here.....I'm really surprised that so many folks prefer the first version to this newer one. Other than the desperate need for paint, I find this design to be superior to Ver 1 in every way.

Ah well, different strokes for different folks and all.

Great to see Cubex still getting the love! I think your pics demonstrate that he fits in with other MPs much better than the new version :thumb
I will say the new bot mode looks as good, perhaps even improved (in the legs particularly), and even the rear end of the alt mode looks less messy. But boy, the new cab design kills all those advantages. It's just not Huffer at all (or Pipes). If TT has proved anything (with Inferno/Grapple) it's that they respect the old G1 alt modes and don't just throw them out for the sake of 'real world'. Huff here just needed to keep his more G1 faithful cab from the first version to be a total win; instead, as you say, we got something that's different things to different folks...

I like the overall look of v1 over v2. However, that mold is gone.

Since I didn't get an original Cubex Huff, I will take this one. Also, I am bettering that QC will be top notch on the new one, as the original Huff was such a black eye for them due to production problems.

Seems a reasonable assumption. I own a pretty large number of BC figures now and I haven't had QC problems with any of them though, so I wasn't expecting any with Huff and Piper either. For me, V1 has a better alt mode but V2 has the better bot mode. Bot mode is my priority, so I prefer V2. But I certainly can't fault people who draw a different conclusion on either point.
