Bay and Lorenzo for not having plot, development, bots and continuity prioritized first and mashing multiple stories into one.

Paramount and hasbro for hiring the same People more than once to milk the movies.

And the writers for half assing and contradicting Kruger story arc

    There's my three cents..

I think it was the whole King Arthur and knight angle, its been done before, the 2004, and even the new one also flopped.
I found myself liking TLK and being really bored and disinterested at the same time.

It boils down to a few things incoherent plot, little transformer screen time, confusing visuals, and most importantly the people that grew up watching transformers after school or during the bozo show can't recognize the characters. Lol can you imagine Optimus ripping off thundercrackers face? These autobots aren't heroes.

Ash from C got the idea right
Now transformers shod transcend the alien invasion genre and go broad. Do a heist transformers movie where robots are in disguise. Do a teenage coming of age where the robots are the partners to teenagers (bumblebee movie) do a honest to goodness space adventure like Thor 3.
Marvel was smart to label each of their movie past phase 2 with a genre to keep it from getting stale.

It really is a team effort, no one person is responsible for the failure of Bayformers.

But I would add Bay on that list.
As director of a movie he pretty much has carte blanche to see his vision of the film however he wants.

    This was the final result.

I think that a lot of revenue to Paramount came from first three movies BECAUSE of Bay stuff and how it all come up together with action and shit. Imagine average guy who likes all this filthy shit and joking stuff. He just looking on action, jokes fly over the place and that's an awesome for this guy. Next, TF4 coming up and everyone expect to see those jokes and epicness, but instead everyone disappoints as TF4 were childish. TF5 coming out, these people are not going there because they were disappointed by the last TF movie. That's it.

I would say trying to push the cinematic universe in general is what ultimately hurt the film. The middle act is pretty much an info dump just to establish the foundations for the cinematic universe.

1-3. A decent first attempt at a Transformers franchise. If it stopped at DOTM I'd be happy, with my Bayformer collection and awaiting the reboot.

TLK's editing sucked and it seemed to have a hard time remembering AOE.
