While I was kind of disappointed with the film, I'm kind of getting tired of the hate too. It's the reason why I grew tired of the Nostalgia Critic's jokes. There's disliking something and then there's dwelling on something to the point everyone's tired of it. People has shouted and yelled about TLK and the Transformers movies in general that it turned into practically beating a dead horse, running over it, throwing it off a cliff, dropping an anvil on it, and then proceeding to beat it more. Now people are free to dislike the films and state their problems; I've even given my share of the critiques on the films. But when you complain nearly everyday, stating the same problems over and over, it starts to drag.

Comedians often are riding the hype because it's the easiest way of selling their act.

But I don't really care about the movie, one way or another.

So the guy's just boring and trying too hard, to me.

I wonder, does Micheal laugh at the jokes while counting his money,

Or does it really get to him when he sees this on tv? I mean he must have put a lot of effort into making the movie, shit or not.

Well remember he did say that one quote that Nostalgia Critic seems to love hanging over his head. Basically where Bay kind of snapped when people were booing him and basically said "Go on and hate! It doesn't matter! You're all going to go see the movie anyway!" If I was constantly bashed for something I made, I probably would eventually snap too. Though don't get me wrong, angry or not, that was a stupid comment for him to make.

People love a mob. When you are within the mob, it is a very safe and comforting feeling. It takes all the guesswork out of having an opinion, and you can receive warm affirmation any time you need it, just by parroting the things you hear everyone else chanting.

Ahhhh, mobs. When you want to get away from the stress of having independent thought and all the responsibilities and uncertainties that go along with that, there's nothing like a mob.

Movie critics had equally "good" opinion about TFTM in 1986 as they have now about the Bayverse. The overly long toy commercial holds now only because of the nostalgia rose-tinted glasses.

Lots of people…well, a handful anyway, seem to be dismissive of O’Brien’s comments as though his opinion on what’s good is wrong or irrelevant. Even ignoring the obvious fact that he’s right here about the TF movies, these people need to be made aware or reminded that Conan O’Brien was a writer for ‘The Simpsons’, which is damn near as much ‘street cred’ as an entertainment writer can get, so sorry, his opinion is not only correct, but relevant. Having ‘The Simpsons’ on your resume not only allows you to shit on bad movies, but the writers, producers and directors of those movies are required to grin, nod, and keep their f’n mouths shut.

Being a writer for a show thing isn't making the guy special in this regard. It just makes him popular in the showbiz. By your logic Michael Bay is a critical authority too.

There's no serious thing like "street creeds" or authorities anyone should be blindly listening too and following them like a sheep because they were working on something famous before.

The guy's beating a dead horse after everyone else made jokes of this kind long time ago... Since the first Bay movie at least.

Jokes about the franchise existing only to sell toys are also older than dirt.

This very forum and TFwiki are full to the brim with both. Since a long time.

"Guys, guys, I'm gonna tell a joke!!! Bayverse movies are not good!"

Remind me when they were good, to begin with.

"Hasbro does things only to sell toys!"

    You don't say...

I'm shocked, dammit. Shocked, I say!

    George Carlin he's not.

But seriously, he's not wrong. TLK is a straight up failure, the likes of which I hope is sending Paramount a really strong message.

He’s kicking a dead horse, but he’s at Comicon, his monologue requires a big-budget failure to talk about, so let’s see, there’s Wonder Woman…no, well written, well received movie, there’s SpiderMan…no, well written, well received movie, Guardians 2…nope, hell, any other recent/current movie that would be a hot topic with comic nerds is doing well. While unoriginal criticism-fodder, Transformers 5 is the only pile of dogshit available for bashing to the comicon crowd.

And what critical success has Bay done that’s even remotely respected at the level of ‘The Simpsons’? At best he’s got a couple of OK movies with cool car chase sequences.

    U man of small faith.

But yeah, had to use Google to connect the face to the name. I knew I saw the name somewhere before... Just didn't recognise the guy immediately.

Heck, I couldn't tell Kate Perry from Taylor Swift without them Google giving me a hand.

    I'm not a hipster. I just don't care...

The Simpsons is just a sitcom that did manage to pull the trick of being marketed as something more ambitious, but lost its freshness rather fast. It's a franchise made for money like any other, even if one is willing to buy into its underground and ucompromising image.
And it's fine and it's okay, but it's nothing any more artsy than South Park or Married... with Children.

No, a smart writer can do it without going the least resistance route.

Yes, he's at Comicon and being a pro he probably did check what's the audience there. It's not taking a lot of research to know that Bayverse is even more loathed within the nerd culture than is in the mainstream one.

He's about as crafty about it as he'd be going to a KKK meeting and starting with racist jokes.

Sorry, I'm not that easily wowed.

His first opening joke was good and cut straight into the franchise. The follow up? Nope. Overdone and clinging to the subject.

I really don't care how famous is someone and what they did before. What counts is here and now. A standup comedian has to be keen and finesse.
