I really hope so. I've only ever managed to take two chances for figures I really want, a BBTS order (which, admittedly, was a good alternative) and the 2.0 Kickstarter, which makes for a year long delay. I would have snagged a figure last night, but I didn't have the funds for it. What bugs me is that it feels sort of lackluster to have no ability to wait a week or two for a product I want to buy.
Word. Unless you backed a specific figure it's a bitch to get. Usually you have to resort to inflated aftermarket prices. Even the BBTS prices are insane. I really wish these could compete at retail but if something as popular as Masters of the Universe couldn't survive brick and mortar there is little chance these could. With ML it's either back it or be prepared to never see it. You might, but you can't count on it for sure.
See, I'm not too sure about this, since that'd lead to a decrease in QC. I really just wish we could get a less constricting way to get these.
I dunno, the bbts prices aren't that inflated if you can throw the figure into your pile of loot and ship it with other stuff, at least compared to Storehorsemen. Sure, the Kickstarter prices are lower, but with shipping on their online store, a regular figure costs about $44 and change. At $50 on bbts, with the pile of loot option, it's not that much of a mark up.
Yeah, they aren't that bad, but I'd like to be able to buy from the main store without any prices inflated above retail.
Yeah, you're probably right. Although the QC on the latest Covenant of Shadow figures isn't that wonderful.
The Cyclops for sure, I hope they someday make a two-headed giant (Ettin). Maybe the Skeletor homage.
Holy cow, ten orcs! Wow! Nice. I've never gotten more than two of any ML figure. I'm getting the whole Coliseum wave. I'll probably get doubles of the Skeletor character and the black knight. The Skeletons are still my favorite part of this line, so I want one faux-Skeletor to display with the blue skull (and probably some adjustments to the armor) and one with the green. I'll probably end up putting all the MOTU homage guys into one little cross-species goon-squad together. As for the extra black knight, I'm thinking I might use it as I mentioned a few posts up... as a generic suit of armor on to which I can plug Hagnon's extra ghost-skull head.
This wave has me fairly unimpressed. I don't give a shit about MOTU characters or homages so the 2 are lost on me. Might get one to have a blue boned Skelly to turn into an ice skeleton. The Dwarf is bland, the Orc is....another Orc. I have many. The Red and Blue homage to the guy that died is ok, but not anything I NEED need. Black Knight builder looks nice. I want to paint up a few. The Spartan guy is also kind of cool, but meh. I might have Kickstarter 1 fatigue. I wanted a new Demon, new Bog Goblin. Black skinned or Grey skinned Dwarf. A Stone Knight. Charred armored skelleton, Anything but more "Cadors".
Yeah, I'd agree that the wave as a whole isn't super exciting (aside from the MOTU guys, because I do like MOTU). I'm mostly getting it for that worst of collector motivations: because I've gotten everything else up to this point. I think I can only sustain that for a while longer, though. Much as I like them, I don't want a house-ful of these guys. I want a nice compact line that has an end. I think I'm in for, like, one more Kickstarter and one or two more in-between cash-grab waves. But after that I think I'd bail. I hope they're not planning on releasing these for the next decade, or something.
Yes sir (10) orcs...I want a green army consisting of orcs, golbins and a forest troll...I already have (3) orcs and (1) troll...I pre-ordered (7) goblins last time and now is my shot to get more orcs at a great price so I'm taking advantage. What type of paint do you use on these guys and how well does it hold up?
I imagine properly thinned high quality acrylics should work. This would be my first attempt on a ML.
Put in my first order ever, pre-ordering Keltuss. I was going to go in on a few figures when the first Kickstarter was going, but real life interposed. Then I meant to revisit and pick some up but I never got around to it or when I thought of it there wasn't much, if anything, in stock. I figure this'll be a good figure to try the line with, as it's easily the idea that intrigues me most.
Congrats...real life has kicked in over here as well...going to wait towards the end of the preorder window before placing mine.
